Pompey will be looking to continue their promotion party when they host Wigan in the final Fratton fixture of the season on Saturday (3pm kick-off). The new League One champions might seemingly have little left to play for, but there is still the chance to finish on 100 points – a feat the club have never previously achieved. It is only pride at stake for their opponents, who have long since secured their third tier status for another campaign. That would have been done earlier had it not been for an eight-point deduction received by the EFL for financial issues following their relegation last term. Shaun Maloney’s men appeared to have one eye on the beach when they went four matches without a win recently. But they bounced back last Saturday to record an impressive 2-1 victory at in-form play-off chasers Lincoln. Goals from Regan Poole and Paddy Lane saw Pompey come out on top in the reverse fixture back in September. And they fought from 2-0 down – with Callum Lang among the Latics scorers – to triumph in the most recent Fratton contest. George Hirst’s brace and a late Aiden O’Brien winner temporarily delayed the visitors’ claim to the League One crown in April 2022. TEAM NEWS Josh Dockerill (knee), Tom McIntyre (ankle), Joe Morrell (knee), Regan Poole (knee), Anthony Scully (ankle) and Alex Robertson (hamstring) are all out for the remainder of the season. Zak Swanson (groin) is also sidelined, while the game likely comes too soon for Terry Devlin after a return to training following his shoulder injury. Stephen Humphrys (ankle), Jordan Jones (thigh), Liam Shaw (calf) and Josh Stones (foot) are missing for the visitors. Half time. 0-1 to Wigan, who have played very well. Pompey seem a bit lethargic after Tuesday night's fantastic effort.
