Looks like the Nathan Jones factor. Dobbo will get a good reception from the crowd on Tuesday. Twice positive; we kept our captain and weakened Scott's position.
If this really is Nathan Jones’s doing then that is fantastic. What I’d really like now is for Jones to come out and make a statement that from now on HE decides who comes and goes into and out of the club and no one else. He needn’t name Scott. The implication would be clear and quite frankly at that point we could get rid of Scott altogether. If Methven and the investors want success, then they would back Jones 100% on this.
He's said clearly that he has the final say on who comes in. Don't know about going out. It would have been good to see if he could have got a tune out of Fraser, as other managers before Holden and Apples did.
Yes. What utterly stupid behaviour to let Fraser go just before bringing Jones in. Same for CBT tbh. It’s all just about the money and how to save as much as possible. Have they never heard of speculate to accumulate?
Well done Nathan. Now offer him a better deal Scott you twat. https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/spor...bsons-february-switch-to-fehervar-collapsing/
If Dobbo isn’t with us next season, it will be the biggest failure to retain a vital player since Yann. https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/spor...hletic-but-admits-skippers-future-is-unclear/
https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/spor...ll-do-everything-i-can-to-keep-george-dobson/ So who do we back or sack - Andy Scott or Nathan Jones ?
Once it was clear we were safe from relegation, I am sure Dobson would have been rested to save injuries. To my mind him continuing to play is a big indicator Jones wants him to stay, as well as Dobson seemingly not wanting to go.
Curbs explained how it works. NJ will go to the owners and ask how much he's got to spend. And how much of that would it cost to buy Dobbo. Since it's clear everyone except Bexlexboy wants Dobbo to stay, they should have a good idea by now. NJ then has to decide on his priorities in strengthening the team, and whether or not that money would be better spent elsewhere. There could be a nice little windfall for the Hungarians courtesy of Scott.
What a daft dilemma to be caught in. However, Dobbo & Alfie are the only two stand-out players of this awful season. Hanging on to both of them would be a first step along the very long road to proper improvement.
Just listening to his interview at the POTY dinner last night, and it should be obvious to all bar Ronnie Moore that our captain wants to stay. So does his father, who has made this clear to numerous fans, so does our manager Nathan Jones, and so does around 99% of our fanbase. It’s now common knowledge about the circumstances that led to Dobson signing for the Hungarian club in January - they went all the way back to a bust up with a member of the SMT the previous summer. We now face the invidious & farcical prospect of having to spend a sizeable sum - £600,000 was mentioned last night - buying back our own player. And all because a certain member of the SMT has an ego that vastly dwarfs his ability.
Agreed. We do have a Dobson thread already though, so could this be merged with that one. And similarly with other posts where we are in danger of duplicating existing threads. Lardi ?
