Ashworth is going to take NUFC to arbitration to try and push through his move to Man Utd, according to Ornstein. The suggestion is that he'll soon be free to move there for peanuts, in time for the summer transfer window.

 

Surely we paid more to get him than Man U are offering so even a tribunal can see that. I’m sure he’ll have signed a contract too

They've handled it perfectly. Couldn't have handled it any better.

1. I don't think Club won't be obliged to go to arbitration - they have no reason to.
2. They can sue him for breach of contract.
3. He might get out of contract but could be forced to walk away from football till his contract is up.
4. Club can quite easily say they will lose more than £20m in player valuations as that's what's been said from Man Utd side.

clauses are common in contracts citing a third party arbitrator to sort out any differences. Of the contract has express clauses though on buy out payments if he gets poached whilst under contract arbitrators would always refer back to the contract.
