All that work for one cash machine. Reminds me of a mate who enquired about robbing the bookies he worked at for 19 grand.
Seeing the teacher stabbed in the neck at a school in Wales today, when is this country actually going to take some decisive action about the possession of knives. Sunak is quick enough in getting live broadcasts out about migrants, benefits and war, how about something quick and decisive about getting knives off our streets. This really couldn't be easier to solve if you got ever school, every copper and every parent involved, zero tolerance.
The Tories have banned ‘Zombie’ knives like six times already so one more ban and we’re there I reckon. I wouldn’t be averse to a mandatory prison sentence of X years for possessing a knife without a pretty good reason (chefs, for example) but where do you put them? The prison system is ****ed. The justice system has a massive backlog.
Something's gone seriously wrong with boundaries. I got into trouble plenty in my misspent youth. You had your groups and you knew plenty of wronguns. But there was a line. You didn't even think about that line bcos it just was never imaginable. The worst was fists and steering clear of the hardest wrongun you knew, the one who was completely fcked in the head, but even them guys took on others in the circles, and always hands on, and always against each other never adults. The idea of knifing, it just was never considered. What the fck has happened that it even crosses any kid's mind let alone considered a norm.
Yeah I dont know the answer to where you put them, other than building low cost detention centres, quick builds, I think China call them internment camps. But more seriously, it's about education and checks and hopefully not having to punish anyone but encourgement to change the current attitudes, yeah you will always get a hardcore, but then we have to find prison space for them - it's about deterrent suppose, you will be checked, everyone will be checked, especially entering schools. The worst ones to install mental detectors.
Everything you said I agree with. You always had the one hard kid at school, but other than that you might get some that like to try their luck, thankfully it was only fists them days as you say. There was even rules to that, some designated green to fight it out...well until some adult turned up and yanked you off as happened to me one time lol, many many moons ago.
I read what you posted about changing mindsets and that's a collective responsibility. But part of that also includes kids having something to do. I know it's easy to knock youth centres and access to a range of things in the community, but I do believe the cuts to these things has had a big affect. Going back to my younger days you could wander the streets, you could knock a football about in the park, fck around in derelict buildings... but there was plenty of other things you just came across in your groups whether that was tennis courts for 50p in the summer, or community halls where ppl had set up indoor games, or even the arcade or places to ride your bike, or skate. And to top off the lack of those things, kids are now brought up on mobile and tablet screens, very little emphasis on physical activities from a young age which we would do off our own back.
Also the churches could get involved in this shhite, especially if they have church halls, that could be opened up as centres for the kids to do things. I remember going through a troubled spell when I was younger, but I remember relations taking me to some community centre to play games and whatever shhite was there (think pop music was played as well), my memory is very vague on it now, but I remember it being supported by some Christian thing. I just ignored the religious side of it, and enjoyed whatever was available to do, I think there might have even been soft drinks and snacks. No idea if any adult had to pay for me, but it kept me occupied. Plenty of businesses sitting empty in town centres for a similar thing to be done.
Very much this, I'd forgotten about the church halls. We had games in there, even martial arts lol. You're right about the snacks and pop as well. We had tuck shops in parks where you could hire out all sorts of games as well. Bloody hell, good times.
The other thing that happens when you're out doing things which are set up for you is you come across others in your age or older youths but also adults and you get to know ppl from all walks of life and all backgrounds and understand life a bit more and maybe value the fckin thing! Maybe think twice before stabbing someone, or like us not even have it cross your mind ffs.
25 years to the day Suzanne Dando got gunned down outside her home. They jailed the wrong bloke, Mr Kipper I think who was later released. Real culprit has never been caught.
*Jill, you got me confused then thinking of Lamplugh, that was Mr Kipper. Suzanne diappeared, Jill was shot.
