Just seen this mate a true king of the game and will probably only end up a a few minute on the sky ticker tape. That will piss me off but true fans will show their respect.
Ah that’s awful news, the term Legend gets thrown about a lot these days but he truly is one, RIP Charlie
My Dad's favourite player too. Never seen him so excited as he was when Charlie was at the Hull game a few years back. My Dad is in his 70s and still goes misty eyed when you mention him. Sad day
RIP Charlie, a real star of the game. A giant who helped turn this club around, one of my favourite Sunderland players of all time.
RIP Charlie, met him at the Biddick Club a few years back at a sportsmans dinner, he was an absolute gentleman and took time to speak to everyone. A man mountain in every sense of the words. God Bless you Charlie
I was lucky enough to see him play throughout the early sixties, a true leader and gent, RIP Charlie very sad news indeed.
Aw am gutted. Not even 50 yet (that’s next year!) so obviously never saw him play, but went to a talk in with him and he was an absolute gem of a bloke. Had time for every single fan. Rest in peace Charlie. Proper legend
