He will pick the side more than likely but even that at home should be enough. Howe has demonstrated repeatedly that he will keep doing the same thing unless Injuries force changes upon him.
I don't think there's any chance he not be given next season. They'll chuck more money at it and they'll start expecting to kick on. He's earned the right and we will either kick on or end up the next Everton.
Would be unfair. You cannot judge a manager for failing to get into europe when you have to play the likes of Murphy, Krafth and Burn at the back. Burn, Schar, Krafth and Murphy has to be the ****test back line I've ever seen. Add bringing on Dummett to give away stupid pens and you've got a total **** show. If Howe manages to get this team to top 7 whilst also having to play Longstaff, Anderson and Miley in midfield... he deserves a new contract, not the sack.
Agree with this statement - I've questioned Howe many times this season but when you put all the pieces together this year any type of European football next year is, in reality, a success. Of our strongest lines up Gordon, Bruno and Schar are the only ones who have consistently been available. Take those 3 out and out of Pope, Trippier, Lascelles, Botman, Target, Willock, Joelinton, Tonali, Barnes, Almiron, Isak I wonder how many games (will) have been missed this year... So close in the CL to progressing (dodgy pen call), seconds away from the semi final in the LC and ultimately dumped out on the lottery that is pens, FA Cup vs City - in-fact all of the draws for all the cups were harsh. So much has made the season difficult this year but we are still battling away with a thread bare team.
Without opening a can of worms, one could argue he's at least part responsible for the amount of players out. If those in the halls of power believe he's culpable and therefore the reason for the season's struggles, he might be let go if we finish 7th or lower.
Think this has been done to death imo and a bit harsh on Howe/the staff. Pope - shoulder dislocation, Anderson back fracture, Tonali suspension, Willock achilles from last season, Lascelles and Botman ACL's, Miley international injury, Barnes toe, Target sick note, Wilson pectoral and injury prone, Almiron - not even sure what's wrong with him - thought it was illness! Maybe a few muscular injuries like Joelinton, Trippier etc are to do with the work load but the majority are freak/joint/ligament injuries that you can't foresee or do much about.
We played a style of football that was very taxing, and Howe, the club and co were simply not prepared for this sort of challenge with all the extra games. Our squad was never suited for so many games, and it was basically deadwood, kids and ****e after our best 12/13 players, our newest two have been out for most of the season.
Well, England are not getting an extra CL place. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/clw0zgg925do
A bit more elaboration from the BBC Top four go into the Champions League Fifth-placed team goes into the Europa League If Manchester United win the FA Cup, they go into the Europa League If Manchester City win the FA Cup, the sixth-placed team goes into the Europa League The next team that hasn’t qualified for Europe (must be sixth or seventh) goes into the Conference League play-offs’
Too bad spurs couldn't do us a favour. It's a 3 way horse race now between us manure and chelsea. Chelsea have the better fixtures as well. I can't believe they may actually snatch it and it's all because of Palmer carrying them.
Would be funny if us and chelsea finished in the european spots and manure finished 8th. Bruno F a doubt for united now.
