Some would argue it’s a four point gap between the clubs given the goal difference. Then again there a few in here who’d argue what time is it eh..
It was from Ken Houghton's header from around the penalty spot IIRC. I think it was a City game after Chelsea that Taylor refereed and he gave us a penalty (or something) that shouldn't have been and Waggy said "was that for Chelsea, Jack?'
I agree with you about Alsopp and his numerous errors - but he isn't the only championship keeper making them
Allsop is the worst keeper in the division to have played a full 90 minutes by way of goals conceded vs xG faced. Even Opta reckon he’s ****. I don’t know if anyone who hasn’t played a full game is worse, they aren’t included.
As it happens Ryan Allsop was also statistically the third worst keeper in the division last season, finishing ahead of Jamie Jones of Wigan and Joe Lumley of Reading. Coincidence?
1904 PODCAST SPECIAL City reporter Barry Cooper, David Burns and James Fletcher discussed the big talking points from a special evening in the Midlands and look ahead to Saturday's home meeting with Ipswich Town. He's 6 yards out and until it leaves his head, Allsop doesn't know wether he's putting it under the crossbar or nodding it into the ground. He had virtually no time to react to either scenario, so played the percentage that it would be a direct header into the top corner. Yes Allsop has let a couple of soft ones in, but we're getting to a level of scrutiny now which borders on obsessive. Remember him getting flack for one against stoke where the ball hits a divot and completely changes the trajectory and he gets grief for something he can do nowt about. By all means criticise when it's deserved but still remember it's our job to support these lads not look for something that isn't there to pile on. No responsible manager is ever going to give a 21 year old who's never played a senior game in England before a start over Allsop who despite his flaws is embedded in the style and gameplan in a crucial game on Saturday. It's a conversation to be had after Plymouth.
You saying he's "let in a couple of soft goals" it's just as ott as what you're complaining about just the other end of the spectrum. We can argue till the cows come home about why he's ( rightly or wrongly ) not been dropped. But the doesn't change the fact he's ( in GK terms ) and absolutely terrible keeper. All the stats that so many on here are so fond of show he is. But those seem people who use stats to try and prove their point with other players are suddenly blind to it when it comes to allsop....
