If we did, I hope we didn't back out because of a few million. The manager makes or loses money for a team.
Can't see us quibbling over a few mil considering the vast amounts thrown after players these days. There will be reasons for it breaking down (if indeed it was ever serious in the first place), but we know little about what goes on behind the scenes and filling in such big gaps can lead to wildly inaccurate speculation.
The club generally does its business quietly without too much fuss or publicity. I am a bit surprised that this is turning into a bit of a saga
Only in the media. We may well have had this wrapped up and sorted for weeks now. The club won't announce anything until we've played the final game of the season
Xavi staying on at Barca. So basically Barca can't afford to pay for anyone else's manager and no-one else will touch the club with no money and have sold off any future income Rules Barca out of any Manager in/outs this summer.
I mean that's never happening. a) He played for Madrid b) He's Basque. Basque/Catalan relations are complicated.
Hence the mate I wouldn't put it past Barca thinking they can get him anyway but Alonso wouldn't entertain the idea
https://www.skysports.com/share/13122935 Kind of hoping we don't get him if he's already spoken out, don't want a manager that thinks doing something like that is acceptable. So disrespectful to Feyenoord and Liverpool. Edit; I suppose Liverpool could have asked him to do it to help with negotiations but still don't like it
We do have a spine of Dutch players - although a couple of them arent exactly first choice. Maybe Slot can get the best out of them if we get him, and his sides do play attacking football I was listening to a Dutch pundit talking about Slot on 5live. He was hopeful that Slot can be a success in the PL due to the number of Dutch managers that have failed to cut it in the PL.
VvD has already spoken about him and he's clearly the biggest voice in the dressing room https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cn032kdp6nyo I guess having the club cpt onside from day one would be a big plus for any new manager. Just hope this isn't a player (whose contract is running down and the club want to keep) picking the next manager to get him to resign
Slot confirmed wants to join - good news that. Just waiting for clubs to sort out the deal and fees. Everything read about him sounds good.
Edwards and Hughes; "we're prepared to be brave over popular" WTF did that mean? If they appoint Mourinho I'm going to be pissed!
I get the feeling Slot is more of a yes man and won’t want much input into transfers and other stuff that’s why Edward’s is pushing for him
Our transfer record was better with Edwards than without so I wouldn't be totally against that so long as Slot (or whoever the manager is) still has some input
No idea where any Mourinho link coming from given slot has confirmed it’s pretty much a done deal assuming clubs can agree compensation.
Anything to back up that feeling? Don’t know much about slot other than what’s been written recently but haven’t seen anything written about that.
I know it's crazy but I don't think Slot looks like a Liverpool manager. In contrast, I think Amorim does. It's just one of those instinctual things that you can't quantify. I think Amorim has already been passed over, who knows. Just to add I can pick out an Evertonian in a lineup based solely on how they look.
