Especially if they appear to bail out when the ****'s about to hit the fan, Fergie style. Is Klopp doing this? Too early to tell, in my opinion, but losing Salah could be very damaging.
Same here although I think it’ll prove a good appointment. Feyenoord’s been great to watch under Slot and done really well in general under him. I think a lot of the Liverpool players will “slot into Slot’s” system quite easily.
A bit harsh on SAF, who retired because he was 70+ and ready to spend more time with his wife and pursuing other interests. Klopp no longer has the appetite to rebuild. He was able to reconstruct the midfield, but he knows Salah is on his way, van Dijk will need replacing soon (impossible task) and although they have some young players coming through, the next manager will have no leaders or genuinely world class players; they will need to do a wholesale rebuild.
Amorim's almost exactly a year older than James Milner. He's got plenty of time. He's spent virtually his entire life and career in Portugal, too. Moving abroad may be tough for him.
Brighton are one of a number of very erratic Premier League teams this season. Look great in one match and then utter ****e in one shortly after that. They're limping to the end of the campaign, though.
It’s very possible a reason for Klopp leaving. I think Pep is considering it with City too, whilst the charges may act as a catalyst, I don’t think it’s a coincidence there’s been rumours of late he won’t be renewing beyond 2025, as by then de Bruyne and especially Walker will be at the end of their careers, Silva’s rumoured to be leaving in the summer to join Gundogan at Barca and Haaland strikes me as someone who’ll wanna go to another league sooner rather than later. Replacing any one of those players feels close to impossible.
He keeps being linked with PL jobs (Liverpool in the last couple of weeks, us last summer) yet nothing ever materialises
He supposedly met with Liverpool and West Ham recently and decided not to move. He's well paid and in a position to take his time, so I can't blame him. We all know that football can be a very fickle game though, so he's taking a risk.
Citeh winning the lottery probably meant that the succession could not go as gradually as he would have wished.
Fergie won the league in his last season. Admittedly the team was on the decline but he still left a very good team. Following him was always going to be impossible though.
If he can win 5 PL titles in a row and possibly the CL again next season then next year would be the perfect time for him to step down from City. I don’t envy who has to follow him.
Moyes made the biggest mistakes - starting with the removal of most of the assistants and backroom staff to bring in his own. He got rid of the very people he needed; SAF delegated a lot of tasks to these people - they had the knowledge he required to manage a club of that size. He showed he was out of his depth.
He was also a poor stylistic choice to replace Ferguson. They play a very different game. It would've required quite a substantial overhaul to adjust to Moyes' way of playing. United's summer signings were Fellaini, Varela and Janko. I can barely remember the latter two.
I followed his lead and found that they're both right-backs and they're still playing. Neither's set the world on fire, but they've done ok for themselves.
