To be fair the way things go in this Country we eventually follow America as well. Trick or Treat is but one example. Never ever when I was a kid. 6th Form Proms never heard of. That's to name just a couple.
I expect you've taken on American spellings as well.....I expect its gasoline and not petrol....color not colour....you mustn't give in BC....you'll be supporting Plimoth next.......and as for driving on the wrong side of the road....I assume you do as well in Canada....it would be chaos crossing the border otherwise.
Yes to all of the above..but when you've spent most of your life in Canada.....and married to a Canadian.. Yesterday i changed my winter "tires" to summer..the same color though...
What on your mobility scooter....they've got so many ways to get you to spend your pennys over there....Oh sorry cents.....Canadian ones of course. That is a little conclusive being married to a local lass....we'll let you off there then......it used to be our girls marrying GI's and going over there....it didn't know it happened with our men as well.......
In view of the “train station” debacle, I am beginning a crusade against a terrible erosion in the BBC’s reputation for good English. Twice this morning, once on Radio 4 and once on the breakfast TV news, that a British man has been seriously injured after a shark attack on the island of Tobago. Are you sure about that? Really sure?
The island might be in flood at the time...then it might be correct.....so your suggesting that it should have been in ..."the waters around Tabago". Of course you could turn the radio off.....and you shouldn't be watching telly that time of the day ...it isn't good for your eyes so early. Of course the injured man might think your picking at straws a little there. Of course the modern BBC is very multinational these days and the English language has changed accordingly. In the old days back in the 40's/50's your BBC presenters where all middle class whites and it was plumb in the mouth stuff. Reminds me of the late Queen....in those early days she certainly spoke with a plumb in her mouth...and to listen to her speak back then compared with later in her life was like chalk and cheese. She was probably trained by ye olde BBC staff to talk that way back in those long gone days.
