Absolutely spot on with “SE7 or douchbag” having any commitment to our club , there is no emotional attachment to the club that we have , there lay the problem !
I want a clearout of this mob ASAP, being realistic I cannot see all three going together although it would be nice. The first to go needs to be the mate of @Smudger603 Andrew Scott.
Reading the Hospitality thread on Charlton Life is a hoot. Swisdom has come out with a side splitter. He reckons that Scott and Rodwell wanted Jones at the start of the season, but Jones had family matters to concentrate on. If this was the case why was the players brought in a bunch of carthorses?! Swisdom has history of supporting owners, particularly squirrel face and her uncle. But what do you expect when you sit in the directors box.
I don’t think the investors can be faulted to an extent. They have invested sizeable sums in players, recruited a manager who very few expected to see at the 16th best team in Division 3, and are now spending £750k on a pitch they don’t even own this Summer. I have been pleasantly surprised with the way the Investors have operated to date, and fans who have met them state that they come across as nice guys with a genuine interest in the club. No malign egos like Duchatelet and Sandgaard. The only black mark against the investors to date IMO is the SMT, but again it’s impossible to believe that a group of seriously clued up & successful businessmen are not now asking some hard questions of Messrs Methven & Scott.
I presume you are talking about the major investors, rather than the many unknown investors nor the “100% he’s only a broker” investor ?
Another club we’ll finish below (again) next season…. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/crgy1k89zgko
Yep, this is the way football is going. At all levels. As Dickie Attenborough said in Jurrasic Park, “evolve, or die”. To witness a low energy bunch of train spotters elsewhere tugging off about “embracing the journey” (what a pathetic phrase) while we are expected to compete next season against financial big hitters including Birmingham, Wycombe and even Wrexham, is laughable. It’s as if CAFC losing £800,000 a month in L1 during their mythical journey is Monopoly money. I genuinely think both club, manager & investors are only going to get one more shot at it next season, given the scale of the losses, nothing to mitigate against them with in terms of player asset sales, and the financial clout of parvenues in League One. The calibre of our initial signings in June will tell us much about the future of the club, IMO. “Evolve, or die”
All we've had is a fake sheik. Remember Upper North singing "We're f*cking rich", and the Jimmy Seed stand responding with "You're f*cking sh1t". Sort of sums up our plight.
The thing is we’re already losing that £800K to start with and we have a very sub-standard squad in terms of promotion contention. There is just no way to bring the squad up to where it needs to be without accruing further big monthly losses. The best players do not work for free nor on the same wages as journeymen.
Ridiculous can Wum himself thinking we buy players based on xg stats. It will be very interesting to see the squad that goes abroad pre-season.
