I often work down the road from an Arsenal pub and genuinely believe they've drawn matches 0-0 due to all the noise they make There was also their match against Man Utd match earlier this season where they were louder for being denied a penalty (which was a blatant dive, IIRC) than they were for their goals In short, Arsenal fans are a strange bunch
Proof, if any were needed, that Dermot Gallagher is an incompetent moron. Is he just saying this because it's his job or is he actually that ****?
This morning at work a Spurs fan came up with the idea of playing Romero as a 6 and VDV with Dragusin as centre backs , I found it hard to deny if you consider the position Romero was in to pick up the ball from Raya , this also gives us another defender at set pieces
Haven't watched them until now. Bent. As. ****. How is Partey's two handed push on Romero not a penalty? Just ignores the ball completely.
It can’t be any worse than what’s been happening at present so why not. Gives Dragusin some needed minutes too, barely had a sniff since joining, wonder if he’s regretting turning down Bayern now after seeing Dier start practically every match? Maddison also needs a game out of the XI too, whether Kulu or the glass Argie starts instead is for Ange to decide. I think Richarlison returns to the starting lineup as well for Chelsea regardless of how long Werner’s injury may be, he can head back to Germany for any treatment… permanently.
Warnock summed it up perfectly. You can bet your bottom dollar that if there is a similar situation for either City, or dare I say Utd, then that clip on Kulo will be given. Maddioson was a p**** and goes down way to easy allowing the opposition to skip up the other end as he did there.
Its never gonna happen but as White backs into Vicario if he goes down he probably gets the decision.
Here's a question for you guys: I realise a lot of you, as fans, want to throw the game against City to scupper our chances of winning the title. And in fairness, I don't blame you for feeling this way because, if the roles were reversed, I would want the same (the thought of Spurs winning the title makes me physically recoil). But what do you actually think will happen in reality? Do you think you'll purposefully throw the game? Or do you think you'll still try against them anyway because your players are still competitive professionals (with an outside chance of CL) and you'll just have to hope we slip up in our final three games? It will be interesting to see what Ange does.
We’re so ****ing stupid that we’ll put in our best performance of the season against them whilst losing every other game.
I reckon there were five or six marginal calls that went against us...the fouls on Romero and Kulusevski, the offside goal where they could have decided that one of the deflections was an Arsenal player playing the ball deliberately, White backing into Vicario and Havertz pushing one of our players before heading the third goal and Rice's assault on Davies not being deemed Serious Foul Play. But none of them were definitely wrong and none would have been overturned if given the other way.
I think several of them were definitely wrong. The offside wasn't, in my opinion, barring the marginal nature of the whole process. Very tough to call Tomiyasu's touch deliberate and controlled. It's clear to say that Oliver didn't give us anything though, including the actual penalty. There appeared to be an extremely dubious offside for Richarlison, too. Haven't seen a replay, but two Arsenal players touched it, then he's offside?
I don't think that the match will be relevant to our final standing. Villa play their penultimate league game the day before it. We should know where we stand and possibly where you do by kickoff.
So…what would you do? Play a strong team for professional pride or flog the game off and gift City a win?
I can’t think that Ange and the players will do anything other than go out there and try and win a game of football. It’s a bit of a moot point because we’ll probably lose regardless but I’d be shocked if there was even a sniff of us trying to throw it. Very different from a fan’s perspective and everyone will have different opinions. Personally I’d never want to see Arsenal win anything ever but ultimately if we somehow beat City and Arsenal win the PL it’s down to way more than one game, even if the narrative demands there to be key moments like this. Objectively the best scenario is for us to win and Arsenal find some other hilarious way to screw it up. I’d hardly view it as our win handing Arsenal a title though. There’s 37 other games all the teams play. If we lose I’ll take some comfort in it being harder for Arsenal to win the league but I’d always far rather we win every game we play. I might feel differently if it was the final game of the season and a win would guarantee a City title over Arsenal, but I still find it hard to think about wanting Spurs to lose.
The stats don't seem to show that we are bad at defending corners. They show that we give too many away. I can only find stats on set piece goals conceded and corners conceded but the ratio of the two is almost exactly the same as Arsenal. Our problem is that we've conceded more than twice as many corners as Arsenal and therefore more than twice as many goals.
Conceding less corners would definitely help with conceding less goals from corners but they still need to massively improve as even when they don’t concede from corners they don’t look comfortable at all.
Looking at our issue defending corners it seems that we miss a certain H Kane in our own penalty area as much as we do at other end.
