Agree with most of the above, with the possible exception of releasing Sean Raggett, Joe Rafferty and Lee Evans. Feel they could all have contributed something for us in the Championship next season. Although they are currently under contract, do hope we can either loan our, or possibly sell both Gavin Whyte and Anthony Scully, as neither player has done much to impress me since arriving last Summer.
Certainly a clean out I agree with you Woops with regard to Raggett. Against Lincoln last week we looked more vulnerable against set plays coming into the box - we missed his aerial dominance which we had begun to take for granted. He has been a rock since coming into the team. He may look clumsy at times but he makes verry few mistakes and should be given a chance in the Championship. Also McIntyre is yet to prove himself at Pompey and how he and Poole perform after their serious injuries is an unknown at this stage so, although Raggert was viewed as being down the pecking order, there are some uncertainties above him. I wish him very well indeed. Rafferty is also a surprise. If a deal with Swanson is not worked out we will be very reliant on the transfer market in the right back position. Over the last few years we seem to have had several good right backs we have not retained. It would be interesting to know if Swanson and Morrell are in discussions because they want a better deal than the extensions the club can offer in their contracts, or are the club down grading the extension offer?
Thank you Wooperts!! I too am surprised to see Rafferty on the list of players, "Leaving the club." I wonder is this because he has found it difficult to settle in the South, and he has used his agent to find a suitable club nearer his roots? Wrexham and any of the Championship plus Bolton in Lancashire. As for Raggett, he would probably be fifth choice once all our CBs are up and running. I feel that Pompey improved once Morrell suffered his season ending injury at Oxford? Certainly, the points per game ratio increased, so I am indifferent if he departs. It could also help with him off our wage bill.
