Think he can do a job in league 1 next season - he knows where the net is - unlike most of our lot other than Alfie
Godden is 5’9” so presumably more of an Alfie May type ? We’ve already got Alfie so personally, if we must have another 30 something striker, I think Connor Wickham at 6’3” and a year younger than Godden is a better bet. Godden is also 2 years older than Alfie. Not for me I’m afraid.
I think he will score goals in League one. He is a Charlton fan who lives locally. But he is just too old. I notice that two of the prospective signings are well into their thirties.
I don’t know much about Godden, but I’d be amazed if he’s the profile of player we are looking at. He would want a significant wage, and at 33 would have no sell on value. I can’t see it. Looking briefly at the transfer rumours elsewhere tonight, I think the Guessing / Willy Waving season is already underway. #Swisdom
Strange how Statler & Waldorf have gone very quiet since I was banned. It’s almost as if they have got Grassers Remorse.
A pity he didn't work out but I'm pleased to hear it if true. Nathan Jones must know we need better if we are going to finish in the top 6. Not just a bit better. A lot better.
i think aneke is quality for a mid to low league one team. trouble is, we want to be top of league one so reluctantly i think letting him go is for the best.
Sorry, am I missing something here ? He has a contract. We can’t just release him. We can tell him he won’t be in the squad and he’s free to leave if he gets another offer, but that’s it isn’t it ? And how likely is it that he gets another contract even remotely near what he has with us. Zero chance I’d suggest. It’s not like he’ll be any less fit if he bums around in the reserve teams. He’d be mad to leave voluntarily and cancel his contract and if we’re going to pay it off then we might as well keep him as that occasional impact sub.
Someone on a wind up on CL opened a very vague thread, Aneke is going nowhere UNLESS we pay him off in full.
