    We just do not know.

    One eye is on 2026.

2025 to join another team in time for 2026 push is very coincidental

It's committed to and basically he is now out of the f1 team and all documents locked away so he can't see anything related to second half of year or next years.

In effect he is on gardening leave whether a hyper car is to be considered that or not.

Things must be really bad behind the scenes. Will be interesting to see where he is in 2026 as any influence he has on a new teams car would surely only be visible for the 2027 season onwards?

I think the release of the news would be against Newey`s wishes because take a look at the date of the announcement of his departure from Red Bull, the team he labeled his “family”. May 1st was perhaps the most traumatic day of Newey’s life back in 1994 when Ayrton Senna died at the wheel of a Newey-designed machine.

Reports of Fred Vasseur meeting with Adrian Newey in London for talkis about a move to Ferrari.

Don`t know how true it is,but it`s coming from an Italian motor magazine.

With the reduced time of his gardening leave (which was the least Red Bull could do for him) he could start work on a 2026 car in the second part of 2025.

If he gets to Ferrari in 2025 in time for three new regs to drop then his impact would be immediate.

The regs are not yet agreed so I presume red bull will try isolate him from those being created to try slow him down.

Early 2025 sounds like before testing for next season and he won have any hand or part in the red bull f1 car from here on out.

Plans will be laid down for the seasons car development already so I doubt this affects a thing this season especially as verstappen will now become even more selfish and want every point possible just in case the car degrades later on.

However 2025 is now wide open as red bull advantage is small and known about so someone should get close by seasons end imo.

    2026... all bets are off.

Liberty Media should throw a bunch of money to get him to join the FIA technical team and save their series.

Ferrari will make a super role where they can pay him operate to the salary cap and then get caught out and fined heavily.

    (Hopefully)

So much for not announcing Adrian's departure today.
So basically he's leaving after the 2025 cars designs will have been signed off and in production.
That's not bad at all really as it then gives him a bit of time to get to grips with where they are and lead the 2026 car development.
I don't think he could have hoped for much better timing wise. I bet Red Bull put him on unpaid gardening leave very shortly as the 2024 cars concept development will be sorted, so they just negotiated him not starting work for a competitor till second quarter of 2025.

I wonder if the Red Bull house of cards will start tumbling now a cornerstone has gone!

He is in effect on thst but not not being paid.

He is on a faux hyper car waffle thing.

In effect they have sent him to Coventry in terms of anything to do with second half of year this year or 2025 car thinking.

Hard to believe that it's been 30 years since that weekend at Imola. What an awful weekend that was all around.

At 65 years of age, why does Newey want to carry on anyway? He’s probably got more money than all of us that post on here would see in 10 lifetimes combined, why not just retire and enjoy life. Travel to all the countries that you visited with the F1 team and more as a tourist, kick back and relax.

I assume he enjoys the challenge. You are right about money, he must have more than enough for a very good retirement.

It would be a great way to retire to help Ferrari win a championship again.

Gosh, I have been buried in work these last few weeks just had a few moments to catch up...surprised about Newey? Not really. He is going sailing, I doubt he will be at Ferrari but maybe he will get tempted if they offer shares. The price jumped on Hamilton announcement, it will jump again if Newey goes near.
But as a fellow sailor, the lure of an adventure in his new Oyster will be great. This season coming, he will want to start to get to know the yacht, give it a shakedown, get all the bugs sorted out. Then he will plan his sailing adventure, crossing oceans. Lucky fella.
So Monaco already, that will be a bore feast.

If he was planning to retire I don't think he'd bother with this negotiated arrangement where he spends a year in supercar development in lieu of gardening leave.

At very least he wants his options open

Agree about keeping his options open. I hope he at least becomes a part time consultant to Ferrari. Let's see what unfolds.
