Heard all the criticisms, ripping off other bands, outdated, pretend punk etc but I still can't help but like them.

    Green Day

    Underrated or overrated Dev?

I don't dislike Green Day, but they've had massive commercial success by being an average pop punk band. Their contemporaries like The Queers, Screeching Weasel, Riverdales, Huntingtons, The Lillingtons etc are superior, but don't get media exposure.

Green Day sell out big venues. Imagine the crowd reaction if they had a sing-a-long song this good

That's why I named them Luke, because they get such a bad press. No one praises them for the quality of material or musicianship, all they get is being accused of stealing lots of ideas. I know they are not everyone's cuppa tea but they have some great songs and the albums of the last 10 years have all been brilliantly produced. I shouldn't like them but I do.

For me its Camel they've always been seen as a poor mans Pink Floyd by some but IMO their music is just as good as Floyd's

    My personal favourites.

Wrote this with Ben Foster (aka Weasel) of Screeching Weasel and a certain Joey Ramone.

Deserved commercial success - never got it.

The Misunderstood - 60s band who split up when two of their members got called up to go to Vietnam just after their 1st album - but its awesome, a bit similar to the Doors, and quite psychedelic. But never gets the acclaim that other bands like Jefferson Airplane and the Doors (who are both awesome) get.

Stone Temple Pilots. One of my favourite bands, classed as Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam ripoff artists, having seen them live I can confirm they are neither. Best live band I've ever seen, absolutely awesome.

I'd give my left arm to see them again with Weiland up front, It's hard to overstate just how powerful they are and how hypnotic he is on stage.
