I'm an ex professional footballer battling depression. I have decided to document my experiences as a player and to trace the roots of my depression. I am also looking to raise awareness of mental health amongst professional players. Feedback is appreciated, good or bad.

A word of warning, some on here (I'll name no names) don't believe Depression exists, I do because I have it, I've been on Mirtazapine for a year

Reading between the lines I'm assuming you are Bi Polar? Whilst I have suffered depression I've never got to the stage of feeling suicidal I can empathise somewhat, but my original warning stands, this is entirely the wrong forum to discuss such matters.

 

Not bi-polar as I don't have happy periods! Not literally, but they are few and far between.

Point taken about forum.

 

I have to say, I am usually happy and don't understand why people aren't, life is a wonderful thing

 

I don't know any depressed people, but I once went to a charity pantomime in aid of people with multiple personalities, it ended up in a riot after somebody shouted out, "he's behind you"
