I just listened to Mansell's interview on being back for pre-season. He mentioned it will be a lot tougher in League 2 than what many people think as many clubs splashing the cash like Portsmouth and even Mansfield!

I thought I would have a look at exactly how clubs have been doing with signing new players. Here are the results and I will update them as and when I can. Feel free to add new signings if you know of any, to make my life easy. Or if I have missed any <ok>

Only 8 signings out of all 24 clubs have been with a fee, which includes our Chris Lines signing. 3 of these 8 are Portsmouth signings.

Mansfield so far have signed the most - 12 players.

Followed by Yeovil with 10 players.

Dag & Red have signed the least with just 1 player.

Followed by us, Exeter, Plymouth, Stevenage & York - all have signed just 3 players.

Overall, looking at some of the signings, without knowing what these teams were left with after departures, I agree with Mansell that it will be tougher than I expected. I didnt expect to walk the league or even get automatic promotion but I was expecting top 10 and have a real push to get in the play offs. But some teams look to have signed pretty well and its now made me think that DC needs to get another 3/4 players in, not just to boost the squad numbers but to actually push for a regular starting place.

Pompey, Luton and Cambridge have pulled off some amazing signings, and Oxford will also be strong. I don't think we have much reason to fear anyone else.

Some of these clubs have signed virtually new squads:emoticon-0104-surpr I think we have a slight advantage when it comes to the players knowing each other on the pitch some of these players will take time to gel at their respective clubs

I think we've got a great chance to get off to a flyer, while some of these clubs who've signed lots of players take time to gel.

Looking at some of the dubious quality of signings I honestly think if we stay positive we don't need to fear anyone in L2. By the look of it some teams have gone for quantity over quality and that could play into our hands. As Gastronomic says, we could get off to a flyer, by the end of 10 league games we need to target a high points return to give us a shot of being as high up in the table as possible. Easter will be like a new signing for us and should be the main striking option supplying the goals with Taylor holding up the ball and playing others in, along with Lines and the new winger chipping in too. Sinclair could prove to be a key player with his pace and passion and like Easter could be like a new player for us along with quite possibly the most established and settled defence in the league which in itself could prove to be a big positive.

Our defence wasnt that bad when we got relegated! Shown they were all too good for non league.Im sure they aint too worried about league 2 again. Just this time we need to show this league how good we are the other end. And with Lines, Mansell and Sinclair with Ollie chipping in too, we have a much better and stronger CM options going forward and supporting the back line. If Easter can stay injury free, I agree he should be starting. Do we start with Harrison or Taylor though? Blissett should be kept as a sub. Use his height when need it. We need more wingers though. I like the look of this Montano player, although I see some on the other forum are not impressed due to his past although he wasnt found guilty of anything. Innocent until proven guilty. However some just likes a moan. I can see DC using Sinclair on the wing too while he waits to get the right man he wants in the door.

I think Taylor would do a good job out wide as well.

It's a decent squad with plenty of options and they gel well already.

Portsmouth, Notts County, Cambridge and Luton has signed well - on paper. I would've liked that Josh McQuoid tearing up and down our wing.

We've got some quality and should be competitive if we retain last season's spirit, but we still need another winger, defender and a striker because I have a horrible feeling that Jermaine is going to spend quite a bit of time in the company of Phil Kite's replacement.

We also need a wicket keeper, a pitcher, a number eight and a cox.
