    No arguments there.

But we are generally playing less **** than everyone else, as our league position shows. We're unbeaten at OT in a season where our two biggest rivals have been battered at home by mid table opposition and always look capable of dropping points.

So if you honestly believe we have no chance of winning this league then you clearly aren't being in any way objective. Unless you'd care to make a case for the general standard of City and Arsenal's performances being any higher than ours?

    Everton
    Liverpool
    Tottenham

    "hey, I can dream, can't I?"

    Its probably going to be:
    Man City
    Man U
    Arsenal
    Liverpool

This is the "Aguero staying fit" prediction.

To win the league the paucity of goals will have to stop. You have a big big test this weekend against a form team, let's see if you score.

It could be another bore 0-0 or something like a Leicester 3-2 if United scores first.

Can anyone stop leicester? United are not the team to do it. The lack of energy at OT aginst PSV was evident.

I mentioned earlier in the season that Utd could win it through others being terrible and Utd dragging out draws and wins and just being consistent if not spectacular. Nothing has changed my mind yet. I get that Utd fans are not happy with the style of play though, winning is one thing winning like a Utd team is another.

Even though we've not won it in ages I wouldn't want us to win it in a Chelsea style even now.

Depends who you are doesn't it?

It's easy to say you don't care how we win the league if all you ever do is look at a league table, as one or two clearly do.

Those that invest in either going to games or spend their time watching them kind of want a bit of entertainment for that. The ****e we are sometimes served up, Wednesday being an example, is borderline unwatchable.

If all you ever do is go on line, check league position and wander around in your shirt being a massive fan then it matters not what type of football the team plays.

That second half WAS unwatchable. The worst Ive seen at OT. Leaderless and players lost looking for direction. <doh>

I'm very much with you on this ... now not for one minute do I think we have a realistic chance of winning the title ... (and in any other season top 4 / top 6 would also be completely out of the question) but I do want to be entertained by the football on offer wherever we finish - and in fairness we have been royally entertained this season and also for the majority of last, even during our very poor run ... it's all about 'having a go' ... and we do that with a real positive approach.

Personally I've never understood those fans for whom the result, irrespective of the entertainment value, is the be all and end all - of course it is great to wiin - but, as an example, I really enjoyed our defeat at home to Arsenal this season - the scoreline didn't tell the full story by any means - we were in the game for most of its' duration but were taught a valuable lesson in finishing by a team that was on top of its' own game on the day ... it was end-to-end fabulous entertainment.

Now I've watched footie ever since I can remember - was 8 when United won the European cup against Benfica - terrific game of football - if I compare that to your winning the Champions League against Chelsea, the entertainment point is moot - OK I was quite young and impressionable for the '68 game admittedly <laugh>... but it's a game that stays in the memory - the Chelsea final certainly doesn't - other than for the penalty slip <doh>.

The thing that concerns me is the crowd being so restless. There was a large amount of booing on Wednesday at the final whistle, that tells you you've got dissatisfied customers regardless of league position etc.

The booing will rub off and make performances worse I think, it's never been heard to this extent before at Old Trafford.

Hopefully though it gives the management and team the kick up the arse they so clearly need.

The team that beat Chelsea was a bloody superb one. Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney as a front three, scoring **** loads of goals.

Agree on all other points though, football is about entertainment, it's why we watch. We don't watch football to toss off over league positions.

That probably depends on how invested you were in the game. The first half was quite dull, with us dominating but not creating or finishing our chances well enough. But I though the second half and extra time were very exciting, with Chelsea going all out attack but us keeping them well at arm's length, and having some cracking chances on the counter.

The penalties just put the icing on the cake - after seeing Cech make two or three world class saves and Terry clear off the line, then Ronaldo missed and it looked like it was all over until Terry stepped up. Maybe not high quality football, but certainly exciting as hell!

As for the argument of winning versus playing good football, I think it depends to an extent on how well the team has done in the past and what they can hope to achieve. When you've been as bad as we have over the past couple of seasons, relative to under SAF, it's inevitable that some of the fans will want to see some success again, even if it is at the expense of excitement. But that does depend on us actually achieving success, and our displays in the CL thus far haven't given us any real hope that will happen, hence the booing.

Absolutely. I don't recall ever being as depressed watching United as I was on Wednesday. It was just ****ing awful.

Yet you're still up the top there. If you click then you'll win the league.

It also depends on expectations. For those fans who were expecting a smooth transition from Fergie to another top manager with the style of football and the success not changing then the last 2 years will have come as a massive disappointment. For those who were expecting some massive upheaval and disruption and slide down the table, then it was all to be expected (whoever was in charge and however much we spent in the transfer market). But United fans are not used (nor should they be) to the type of football served on many occasions at OT.

The argument could be made that the first step had to be to stabilise the ship. Moyes' United had gone from 1st to 7th. so getting that 4th place was a priority. Next would be do establish the team as a regular CL team and to compete for the title. Then to compete for the CL. Most fans can't understand why you can't have both points and style. I'm afraid with LVG you can have points but not style. I am sure that the owners and executive would have aware of this when he was recruited. As I said before, I wouldn't want him dismissed but I wouldn't want him to extend his stay.

    Probably means sack another manager.

If today's rumours are true, and even if they aren't which is more likely, United need to act on them and seek Guardiola's availability for the end of next season.

I certainly don't think van Gaal should be sacked but plans need to be made for when he leaves, it would be ****e if Pep went to City.
