Don't think anyone has posted about this but please correct me if I am wrong.
Barton has spoken out about the recent England squad saying he does not understand why any Newcastle players or Micah Richards have not been included.

The best quote is 'playing all games at Wembley make it 'an elitist, southern-based team' which the average fan no longer cared about.' For me that just about sums up the England team at the minute - heavily biased towards the south and less and less people caring about it.

I can't be arsed with England these days. Anytime we play i show no emotion to the team, don't get me wrong, i love my country, just fell out of love with the national team.

I just wish we'd get a game up North every once in a while. I remember going to an U21's game at SJP, can't remember the year but Steve Watson and Stevie Carr (with curtains!) played so it tells you how long ago it was. Why not again?

Very true but I totally agree with what he's saying. There's a sickening amount of bias towards the south and the FA are only alienating the rest of the country by playing every ****ing game at Wembley. Three of the current best four defenders in the country are English yet none of them are even recognised, not even over a crocked Rio Ferdinand or a John Terry currently under criminal investigation.

They're a ****ing disgrace. Sackless bastards all of them, the whole system needs scrubbed and hung out to dry. Don't get me wrong, if our players are avoiding meaningless friendlies and unnecessary injuries then it's better for NUFC but I would love to be proud and excited by England again which I haven't been for 10 years or so now.

As much a Barton loves the sound of his own voice, he is spot on.
2 friendlies, a chance to play a couple of younger inform players e.g Taylor cause Terry is certainly not in any kind of form. Chance for Cappello to experiment but no he decideds to keep captain KKK in the team.

As for not caring about the England team it is a combination of the biased towards the southern players and the fact that some players picked are egostical pricks who don't deserve to wear the shirt. Shagger Terry, Dope Ferdinand and Rooney the chimp who mistakes opposition players for the ball and kicks them all over.
Mix this in with a press that like to build them up and knock them down at every chance.

I've given up, I may check the score but won't go out of my way to watch the game.

I find it impossible to get excited about England. The fact that they play EVERY game at Wembley is ridiculous in my opinion. Especially given that games are usually on a weeknight, are northern England fans supposed to take a day off work to go to a meaningless friendly?

The management has always picked players on reputation rather than form which is why we saw players like Terry and Lampard being picked regardless form for their clubs. All in all I think a total rethink of the national team is needed.

Glen Johnson is possibly the most over rated player around

Surely Richards would be first choice considering Silva will be playing LM.

The two right backs should be Richards first, Walker second. If Johnson played for virtually any other club, he would not be an England player.

Really don't understand why Richards isn't in - the lad is class! Johnson is abismal.

Steven Taylor should be in and around the squad, but England's strongest part is centre back so I do sort of understand why he isn't in

Joey Barton is spot on here! Steven Taylor should be in that squad without a doubt.

This article reminds me of how much I like Barton!

Still think he could have stayed though.

Ah well , that ship has sailed.
