Billy Bodin is on a 2 week trial with us. Aged 23. Left winger who can play up front too. Goal scoring record not great scoring 14 in 113 games playing for Swindon and on loan at Torquay and Crewe and then re-joining Torquay. Last club was Northampton but failed to play a game for them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Bodin
Apparently he had a 9 month injury last April due to a knee ligament issue. He signed for Northampton early this year and played 4 times for them according to the Post although his wiki page shows no games played.
I had to pack up playing through a knee ligament {Cruciate} injury and although it was reconstructed, successfully so said the surgeon it was never the same again. I would think that Mr Bodin {Son of Paul I Guess} would have to impress quite considerably in pre season if the club would see it fit in taking a punt on him.
Another 3 players have joined Billy Bodin on trial this morning. Bodin is on a 2 week trial with a week left to go. The 3 on trial joining us today are all on a 1 week trial with the club. Winger Jennison Myrie-Williams. Although only 27 he has played for no fewer than ten clubs, including Bristol City and Scottish sides Dundee United and St Johnstone. To date his career has taken in 259 league appearances and 30 goals, the last of which was scored for Tranmere Rovers, against Stevenage, on 3rd April this year. Goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin. The holder of ten Republic of Ireland U-21 caps, played 12 games whilst on loan at Newport County last season. Prior to that the former MK Dons custodian turned out in six league games for Walsall when on loan there in 2013. Midfielder/striker Toby Ajala. He will be a familiar name to Rovers supporters as he played against us for Torquay United last season. Another ex City player who also has had spells with AFC Wimbledon and Cheltenham Town preceded a move to Welling United, and he signed for Torquay in the summer of 2014. http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news...ces-on-trial-2528029.aspx#cXHfEt5Dxf72TuMK.99
Someone tweeted that Lines in midfield with Jennison Myrie-Williams will cause a lot of damage in league 2. I dont know a lot about Jennison but I would be disappointed if Mansell misses out. I know he is at a certain age and I doubt Mansell will play every game but I think he compliments Lines very well. He deserves a chance as well. Hopefully someone here can shed light on Jennison, if he would be a better option than Mansell? I just hope it is not another agent red!
A Scunthorpe fan on twitter said we shouldn't sign Myrie-Williams here's what he said "myrie Williams is absolute dogshit, worst scunny signing in years.and we've had some crap, I'd leave well alone" That's good enough for me but seriously I wouldn't want Mansell, LInes or Sinclair to lose their place to a new signing it would be very unfair.
Myrie-Williams was a winger when he was at the premier club in Bristol. There was big hopes for him which never materialised, I think he would be good in L2 though
I have seen him play a few times and he has never really stood out, but who knows eh ? sometimes a player needs a new start to re-ignite the burners so it will be interesting to see how he performs.
Well either he has a slight injury or just not fit enough to be involved in either game this weekend. The other trialists are involved but not him. I wonder why. If he has a injury or struggling to be involved then how will he impress DC when his trial ends after the weekend?
