Definitely best this season. As I said before, if you liked Hardhome, which is my personal fave ep ever, you'll love this one. Definitely top 5-10 overall.
Spoiler https://www.oddschecker.com/tv/game-of-thrones/who-will-rule-westeros Betting for who sits on the iron throne. Find it funny that Jon Snow is 5/2 and Prince Aegon Targaryen 12/1 when I'm 99% sure they're the same person.
Spoiler I agree, I think Jon's real name is Aegon, I imagine Sam and Gilly will find that fact out in the finale. I do think it's going to end with Jon and Dany in charge. It seems obvious, but I do think they'll go for that.
Spoiler Aegon in the books was a different child, who turned up as Young Griff, but they seem to have cut his story from the TV series as far as I remember. Aegon was the the son of of Rhaergar and Elia Martell. Jon is presumed to be the son of Rhaergar and Lyanna Stark. It could have been changed for TV but I doubt it.
Spoiler Weren't Elia Martell's children famously killed by the Mountain? "You raped her, you murdered her and you killed her children" - Oberyn Martell.
Spoiler Jon Snow doesn't care about the throne though. So that's a bad bet. He may change his mind once he figures out who he really is but I don't think so. It'll be like any adopted kid being raised a certain way, then turning once they find out biological parents, that doesn't usually happen, he'll find out who he is but he'll always be a Stark I feel.
Spoiler I think it'll be him and Dany, where he's sort of the 'face' of the throne whereas Dany actually does all of the things and makes the decisions, like a more powerful hand. Or they just get rid of the idea of kings and queens and become a democracy. Tyrion alluded to that idea in the last episode, which seemed out of the blue.
Spoiler The last one. RIP Viseryon, you bastard NK. Also, RIP Thoros and Benjen. Glad Benjen and Jon got to see each other one last time, even if it was for pretty much a couple of seconds. Also, as a fan of the Brotherhood (probably in the minority there) I was sad to see Thoros go too. Thought when Thoros went Beric wouldn't be far behind, but I'm glad he's still going for a while longer. No chance he's surviving the whole thing of course.
Spoiler Hands up - who else thought Tormund was ****ing dead during that scene? Thank **** for the Hound. I don't think anyone has come that close to dying without actually biting the dust. Also, that chat between Sandor and Tormund was top notch.
Spoiler I would have seriously been upset if Thormund went, he might next season but I was shouting noooo at the screen. Him and the hound are the best.
Spoiler We need a convo with them two and Brienne now. Considering Brienne is going to KL and so is Sandor, it looks like we should get a reunion with them two. Wonder if she'll mention that Arya is at Winterfell?
