Well things may have got a bit more easier for Barnet.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32400886 Gateshead manager having talks with Wrexham!
The Gateshead manager after losing on Saturday... "You will never, ever hear excuses from me, but when you’re picking up 10-12 injuries to major players and having to make changes to the way that we play, it doesn’t bode well to go and pick up the results that we want. It’s disappointing for us, but hopefully everybody understands the reasons why we haven’t been picking up points of late. We have to be realistic, and the players have been giving me everything they’ve got."
You never know. Its highly likely that will be the case but remember last season, we beat Wycombe and thought we were high and dry. But...... Maybe Barnet will think the same and we do to them what Wycombe did to us, but over promotion instead of relegation.
Many things can happen. I'm disappointed about Gateshead because on their day they can give anyone a game. It's hard to see how they can compete with so many youngsters and their managerial situation up in the air. Let's hope they at least pull a performance out of the bag. Our lads just need to concentrate on their performance and building momentum for the playoffs. The situation may actually take some of the pressure off because they know it's such a slim chance now.
rather be in this position where if we fail, we have the play offs to fall back on. its not as if we fail we miss out on the play offs or fail and get relegated.
True, there's still plenty to play for and we're still one of the form teams going into the playoffs. There's also plenty of unfinished business with FGR and Eastleigh if we end up playing either of them.
The only thing with that is we've been top 2 since December and we could end up not going up and its the whole season down the drain this might sound stupid but I would rather off done what Eastleigh have done and managed to nip n their right at the end.
To be fair, our form has been pretty good all season - and we rarely lose and don't concede much. As long as our strikers pull their fingers out, we should be ok
If Gateshead can reproduce some of this form that would do... http://www.gateshead-fc.com/5413/gateshead-reserves-4-1-rotherham-united-reserves
The Manager takes a look at Alfreton As Bristol Rovers gear up for their final game of the regular season manager Darrell Clarke took some time to reflect how far the team has come in the past twelve months. "It's been a fantastic journey, when you look back at the first five games and getting only five points to see the position we're in now to potentially win the title on the last day shows that the lads have done me proud and put some pride back into the shirt but now we need to finish it off. "If you look at what happened here on the last day of last season there has been a massive turn around for the football club after it hit rock bottom with the relegation. "It has taken a lot of effort from myself, the players and most importantly the supporters to pick it back up so that it can be competitive again. "With new players coming into the side it took a little bit of time to adjust but then they kicked on. We're on a 19 game undefeated record away from home which is a club record and regardless of what league we are in that is a fantastic achievement. "We are disappointed we haven't turned more of those draws into wins but other than that, the lads have given me everything this season. On a personal note, how last season ended hit Darrell hard as he explains he had "the worst summer of my life" after Rovers relegation to the conference. "It has been a tough 12 months for myself and especially the supporters because we have gone through a lot but my thanks goes to the supporters for giving me the opportunity to turn the club around and get it going in the right direct again. "It has been difficult, but any club would find that when they drop down a division with all the cuts that were made but we are here with one game to go with a chance of winning the title at the Memorial Stadium. "I did say publicly that I felt I could get us in the top five and I always believed that we the club have done better than the top five this season. Tomorrow's fixture with Alfreton Town has been announced as a sell out with over 11,000 Gasheads expected at the Mem and Darrell has branded their support as "something else". "Their support at games this season has been fantastic, both home and away. "The passion that they show is just incredible and I've said all along the supporters of this football club all deserve medals and that little bit of luck and all the players and the staff want to get promoted for the supporters.
Gateshead manager will be still in charge tomorrow. He attended an in interview with Wrexham and they offered him the job but a football league club has asked for his services too. He said he is happy to stay at Gateshead so has a big decision to make either to stay or accept Wrexham or the un-named football league side. He said he wont decide until after the season is over as his current thoughts are only on the Barnet game. Here is his interview in full if you are interested http://www.gateshead-fc.com/5414/mills-speaks-out-following-turbulent-week But here is what he has to say about Barnet which you will find interesting.... "I want to do my job tomorrow. We’re on the TV – so I want my players to put on a show, and display the passion and desire necessary to get a result at a side at the top of the league. I hope everyone understands that it is only professional to concentrate on tomorrow first. For now, the Barnet game is what I am focussing on – it wouldn’t be fair on anybody, otherwise. I’ll be putting a side out to get a result. Tomorrow’s game has got to be done in the right way. We have to be professional, we owe it to everyone at Bristol Rovers – the players, the manager, and the supporters – to do our jobs properly. I have a few players available again, so it’s nice to have a bit of a headache on who to select – something I haven’t had for a while. Mills welcomes Josh Gillies back to action following a two-week lay-off, while Ben Clark returns from suspension. Tom Allan and Carl Finnigan have both been passed fit, although Valentin Gjokaj (knee) will miss out."
He is saying all the right things lets hope his players put in a performance to encourage him to stay as their manager
i think there will be a few twists tomorrow. i can see a high scoring game in barnets game like 4-3 for example. im sure akinde will get a penalty as always!
