Robins in for PNE defender. please log in to view this image Bailey Wright challenges in the air with Burton striker Jamie Ward Bailey Wright’s future at Preston remains uncertain, with Championship rivals Bristol City having upped their interest in him. The Australia international made his 205th appearance for PNE in Monday’s 1-0 win over Burton Albion. He was recalled to the side at the Pirelli Stadium after two games as an unused sub and one game out of the matchday squad all together. It is understood that City have been in contact with North End about Wright, who is in the last six months of his contract at Deepdale. So whether the Burton game proves to be his last in a Preston shirt or he is still here for Saturday’s big FA Cup clash with Arsenal, remains to be seen. This transfer window is the last opportunity for Preston to get a fee for Wright should he stick to his present stance and not agree a new deal. If he saw out his contract and left in the summer, it would be on a Bosman free transfer. Speaking at yesterday’s press conference at Deepdale ahead of the Arsenal game, PNE manager Simon Grayson said: “While Bailey is on our books, he will get the opportunity to play here. “He went in at Burton and showed what he is capable of doing. “The situation hasn’t changed – if an offer comes in for him, we will see if it works for us as a football club. “If it works, then there might be something to be done.” Although there has been plenty of speculation about possible destinations for Wright, the interest from the Robins – who PNE beat 2-1 before Christmas – has been the strongest. http://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/robins-in-for-pne-defender-1-8317614
what worries me ..just a little .. is the quality of the players we buying in to DJURIC ... never seen him play, but who will he replace? Hegeler ...... never seen him play .. BUT we need a real solid Wade Elliot type player..is he that quality? Wright .. interesting "interest" in him by City.... not been getting a lot of game time with PNE? but would he bring much to the table
Preston fans saying he has been offered a new contract by the club. This may cause a delay while he considers his options.
Bristol City confirm their next transfer window signing is imminent. Bristol City were today working on a deal to recruit a commanding central defender. And the Championship club are now closing in on a third signing, with head coach Lee Johnson hoping to bring an experienced centre half in ahead of the weekend. Although Johnson declined to name names earlier today, I understand City are set to announce a domestic signing within the next 24 hours. A fee has been arranged between City and the selling club, while personal terms have been agreed. The player concerned was undergoing a medical today and it only remains for paper work to be completed before the Robins are in a position to announce their third addition of the January window. "One in particular is close, but I never give names before deals are actually complete. Hopefully, if all goes to plan, there could be another one done very soon "But this is a crazy window and you never know what might happen. Things change by the hour and you cannot be sure of anything until the deal is actually signed and the player is through the door." The player is British and, providing City can register him with the Football Association by midday on Friday, he could feature in Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against Fleetwood Town at Ashton Gate http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/bristo...-is-imminent/story-30033506-detail/story.html It can't be Wright then he is Australian.
Well its not the lad from Coventry as he wont be able to play Saturday regardless. Of course the EP could have that last sentence wrong
Depends who you ask I'm sure Red Robin, Redprintt and the like will say he is rubbish, happy clappers like myself will say he's brilliant and the greatest signing ever by our fabulous manager. In reality he will probably fall somewhere between the two opinions
Preston fans rate him. But I'm a bit cautious as we've been here before with the selling teams fans telling us that the player is good, with El-Abd
