I don't think we need centre backs, defence begins in mid field. Our No1 moriority should be a physical midfielder and on field leader. Carroll has not got those attributes. On the subject of wages you ca blame a player on £105,00 a week staying at the club rather than take a wage cut to move. The sad thing is we as supporters don't get to see good players in action because of this. They were talking about capping bosses wages on Question Time last night. Perhaps capping players wages should be considered.

 

I sort of agree with you but we 100% need centre backs, we have conceded so many from corners and set pieces its embarrassing. they are also so poor defensively and I stil believe Briton affords more protection than most teams around our standard. Personally I would like that midfield player, but I want 1 minimum centre back as all of ours are bang average and it shows. I really do agree with the wages thing.

 

Defence , attack and whatever starts with a manager getting a grip on a drama free team . 3 managers in the first half of the season is 90% of our problem .
Contrary to popular belief, I think we have a pretty good team that is without direction ...or should I say to much misdirection under to many chiefs .
If Clements can get control of the team and dressing room and we can keep the players we have , I see us pulling out of this mess with few players coming in , .Derby brought in 8 players in January the season they went down and never won a game after the new players arrived .

 

We've been **** at defending set pieces and crossing from the wings for way to long as most of us know, and with no commander on the field since Williams defected to keep our players on their toes when they cock up plus we need a minor thug in midfield to control and bully back !
If jinx and co still ain't noticed that and can't or won't at least try to remedy it after all this time then we're cooked IMO !

Carroll is a 4.5million deal. Just broke on SSN. Coming to have a medical.

I think I'm the only one who thinks Martin Olson would be a tidy addition? Yea he's a Norwich player but he's half decent in reality and think he's better than what we've got.

Also SSN are now reporting that TC is currently undergoing a medical and will be a Swansea player for £4.5m. I like TC and think he'll be a decent player for us. Last season he played 19 or so games for a title chasing team and scored 2 goals from a deep midfield position.

 

There he is, we can see you wibble, the dubious one, stamping his sandles in anger yet again.

I believe I've never called you a prick wibble, have I? I don't think so as I have learned to use whit and intellect in conversation over a childish labeling.

Being the better man though I shall take the higher moral ground away from you as I always have and turn the other cheek. I shall ignore your weaknesses and will feel better for it.

I thought Olson may be decent but TLF reckons he's lightweight in defence so I simply don't know.

TC for £4.5m, he's young I suppose and if he can help then its not such a bad deal but I still feel we needed a CB ahead of yet another midfielder.

I thought we had a few young midfielders out on loan, Grimes comes to mind. Its not working for him at Leeds so bringing him home, why not? has to be better than being unhappy at Leeds. Where has Shehan gone? thought he was another decent midfield prospect too. Makes the signing of Carol stranger and stranger.

 

Carroll for 4.5 million is a grey area signing for me . I think that he is worth that price but will be an overload to midfield and I feel the money could be spent better on defence . Welcome to him though if it's true .

 

What I believe is he is no better than what we have. We were linked to Van Aanholt, who I would have much more preferred, better defensively and very sharp going forward. Disappointed we have wasted 4.5m on Carroll, pointless signing who brings nothing we haven't already got. Who does he replace?

If your right TLF I simply don't see the point in signing either Olson or Carroll. Looks like we're continuing to waste money and opportunity on average players. Hope both prove me wrong though.

 

On the bright side , Levy can't go around bragging he got 8 million for Carroll , something he was saying he was going to get . For a team that prides themselves on making good deals in the big picture , they've never got the best of us .

I think the problem is; the availability of players that are the right price that want to come here.

We all know how inflated the prices are in January and it's the clubs fault due to poor preparation.
