I made my commitment over a year ago that i will not attend any lower league game, where B Teams or the like have been entered. Since 1992 the traditional ways of our game have been eroded and overcome by pure obscene greed. If any other business behaved the way the Premier League and Sky behave financially towards payments there would be outright uproar. It's gone too far and I'm sure never how Jimmy Hill intended it. Now they want to infest our very roots like tooth decay, if supporters do not stay steadfast in their stand, you will eventually kiss goodbye to the game as we know it. I hope not to live to see that day.

Also, regardless of whether B teams are introduced into the FL or not, that is only a small matter for me. The fact is, this competition is horribly demeaning to League 1 and League 2 clubs, it's relegating these clubs to nothing more than training opposition for PL kids, it is saying that such clubs don't matter and are unimportant in their own right. Their only value is the minutes they can give to PL kids. Their history, their fan base, everything... is irrelevant. The only clubs that matter are PL clubs. It's insulting. The fact that people can't see this is frankly staggering.

 

A load of that 4000 were kids PompeyLampras and you can't blame the club for trying to make the most of something they know is going to be boycotted by a large number of their normal customers. I don't agree with Lyndhurst in the point about premiership clubs having B teams in the lower leagues if they could. I think they would jump at it if they were allowed or rather they WILL jump at it when the ARE allowed. Eventually we will follow Countries like Spain with this and that will spell the death nell for a number of small clubs. The premier clubs will not give one flying fig when that happens. Lyndhurst has his own reasons for being there and thinking differently which I respect also.

I think a lot of grass root supporters are getting more and more pee'd off with the premiership cash and them thinking they can ride roughshod over everyone. The FA are afraid they will break away and form their own super league which of course they will if they don't get their own way. WE, the smaller fry, don't give a stuff if they do but it's the FA's bread and butter so they do. I simply do not understand why the premier league doesn't run it's own reserve league to let their kids practice. That happened for years and years and didn't seem to be a problem. The truth is they can't be bothered with it when the football league can do it for them. Like you brb, I just hope the **** doesn't hit the fan in my lifetime.

 

I've already mentioned elsewhere this summer about Chelski flooding the lower leagues with their surplus players.....I counted over 20 plus of their players out on loan this summer a couple of weeks back.....it's as if these big clubs are scared of missing any developing talent....so they grab them straight away....and these youngsters are so star struck that a big premiership club have shown interest in them that they cannot join them quick enough. No matter that that big club rarely end up with a youngster breaking through into the first team squad.....these clubs still go out there and pay £millions for already matured stars from anywhere in the world.
I'm not sure it was a good thing that our youngster Fletcher scored two goals at the end of last nights match...plus a penalty as well.....will he suddenly be whipped away now by some club that can offer him more money than he can ever earn at Argyle.....watch this space.

 

Enough said about this trivial but pernicious little competition for the time being.

PAFC voted against the current arrangement but other clubs took the Premier League's 30 pieces of silver. Once that happens, the club has an obligation to the League to get on with it in a professional matter and at the same time, make as much cash as it can out of it to further more important objectives.

The PL is destroying English football: hoovering up young British players and letting them rot without regular game time, paying obscene amounts of money for often very average foreign players, thereby killing the England team, and creating a closed shop through parachute payments that make it very hard for clubs that have never been in the top tier to get there. The problem is, we all want our teams up there, don't we?

 

Hasten to add my club voted against it too. From memory many other clubs we're against it too, even as a trial period, but some wording was changed around 'B Teams' and the majority of uncaring Chairman bought it, not the fans. Supporters need to stand their ground and continue to boycott.

 

Totally agree, dont turn up to this shocking competition. a joke.. The lower league clubs wont gain from this at all.. Why cant the PL have their own under 21 league if they want the kids playing..

 

Take all your points but a nice workout for our young lads too. Better than playing local sides for a reserve div. We won too!

I think letting their teams into the EFL was a compromise so that their players could get some experience against professional opposition, for when they step up to the first team (except at Chelsea & Man City/United where this never happens).

 

Thanks Hobo, i never knew that they had this league? These players never make it to the top teams, only at spurs, liverpool have a few also.. The bigger so called clubs dont do that.. A decnt player like Scott Sinclair ends up at celtic doing well.. i remember him at argyle and the game in the cup at Barnet when he scored that solo goal . i was there.. those were the days.. hopefully they will return soon
