Not forgetting they bought out first £1m player in Caleb Folan. Up to then Peter Swann has been our record buy for about 20 years. Jay Jay Okacha was in the stand at Blackpool when Folan made his second debut for us. It was a signing to show our intent.
I’m just looking forward to the bell ringing - twice. When it’s finished it’ll be an end to two bell ends!
Yep actually I seem to recall him coming over to the stand and chatting with fans over the barrier a few times.
Re the Duffter and skullduggery. I once asked Adam Pearson about the agents fees we where paying in the prem and he was quite frank in his views re the Kamil Ghilas transfer. Apparently the agent fee for a Spanish tier two player was ridiculously high. The agent I believe was employed by one of Duffens companies. However Duffen understood the value of the supporter and the history of the club. If he is coming back then after these 2 it will still be a breath of fresh air
Too true I bumped into that odious bar-steward, the younger, at North Ferriby a few years ago. He looked down his nose at me as if he'd just stood in a dog turd...Horrible, up-his-own-arse arsehole...
Happens a lot just as a pragmatic solution Sometimes cheaper to settle than win by the time you’ve paid your legal team
I've only spoken to Duffen once, it was away to Stoke and an arselicker was thanking him for what he'd done for City. Duffen said "it's just my hand on the tiller" I interjected, "did you say you're hand's in the till?" he replied "it's my till" so I replied "it may be your till but it'll always be OUR ****ing club!" Fair play to him, after that in many interviews he used the 'custodian of the club' line. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Been told today that Duffen is indeed to be the new 'owner'. I take it as front man for some form of partner/group. I will welcome him as he will engage with the fans and give us what we want in the short term. (namexand concessions etc)
It seems time is a great healer. I won't ever welcome him with open arms. I will begrudgingly accept him as hopefully he can heal some of the wounds the Allams have created. I don't care if he has money, or makes marquee signings, it's not about splashing money. It's about having a club that is part of the community, that has its identity back, has 11 players and 20,000 fans all trying to achieve the same thing. If he comes back I hope he has learnt from his mistakes as what these past few years have shown us is that its not about money, its about having our club to support.
Duffen may or may not have been a dick but he never came close to making me feel like not attending nevermind stopping attending altogether. In Top Trump ****s the Duffen card loses every time against either of the Allam cards.
Lets be honest, we could do a lot worse than Duffen. He knows the city and more importantly, the people. He's stayed fairly close to the club in recent years so is fully aware of the situation and what needs to be put right. Maybe he has unfinished business here regarding how he left and the mistakes he made etc.
Can't believe so many seem to be happy to see Duffen return. He's a chancer, so long as it's someone else's money. He'll tell everyone what they want to hear. He's looks after himself first, the sort of guy who puts his sons as mascots against Spurs, depriving real City supporters the chance - oh yes that did happen. On his return expect the chairmans office to have a neat make over. At least with the Allams all the **** is transparent, laid out for all to see, with Duffen it's all done in the dark. Short memories.
