The ' Line of Duty' series is excellent, written by the same guy who wrote 'Bodyguard' but IMHO a bit better <ok>

I'm not a Luddite so I do not agree that all 1970's programmes were better than todays.... except perhaps for 'Tugs' :emoticon-0152-heart

The political satire was better. Spitting Images has never been replaced. God knows why, there's so much material around they'd have a field day.

Being vaguely acquainted with the profession, I switched off after half an episode of Bodyguard.

It was poorly researched & wildly unrealistic.

Bodyguard is utter poop. I can't understand all the hype. The plot has more holes than Elf's underpants. The only redeeming feature of the show is Keeley Hawes. :emoticon-0165-muscl

There are some great shows made these days (mostly in the U.S), yet the classics of the 70s and 80s were not hamstrung by political correctness.

The likes of Minder and The Sweeney represent the England I love so dearly, not this contrived ideal where at least 50% of positions of power must be filled by someone of colour. I've nothing against the idea, but it's not reality (yet) and I don't want it shoved down my throat.

i actually quite liked the bodyguard. never been a big bbc fan as they always seem to sugar coat everything but this seemed ok. compared to other shows on netflix or sky atlantic its not as good.

There's talk of the dude from Bodyguard becoming the next Bond. <doh>

The makers of the Bond films should double Daniel Craig's wages. He is 007. Only Roger Moore comes close.

you say that, but before daniel craig became bond, someone set up http://www.craignotbond.com/

i go by what i said on another thread, i'm open to other actors as long as the actor matches the written features of the character. i.e. he cant be female.

Is "Man in the high castle" the series based on a parallel universe where results are different?
I am refusing to watch that in case there's an episode where Charlton beat Millwall <rofl>

Minder on the Orient Express was a classic.

The scene where a rather p***** Arthur stepped out of his sleeping compartment and saw Chisholm walking down the carriage was a belter.

    yep, that's the one.

should give it a try, there might even be a episode where millwall finally reach a top flight, or get gates over 10000

The new Doctor Who has been ruined on the same grounds.

The female Doc I have no problem with, Jodie is a good actress.

    But the new assistants <doh>

    Black street kid - tick
    Young Asian policewoman - tick
Old white bloke ...married to black lady - tick

Why does the BBC feel the need to do it ?

Our bad start to the season has just seen our average attendance dip below the 15,000 mark - very disappointing, but could be worse (5,000 worse <laugh>

    ^^^^^

    Scott is an embarrassment.

She talks in cliches, not surprising when you consider she is commenting on a sport she never played.

You can see Craig Bellamy & Souness wriggling in their seats when she is on the panel with them.

For me, Scott is not very good but … for me.... she is better than the female match commentator on MoTD … for me... it was lucky she was doing Burnley V Hudders because I just turned the TV off and … for me, I just went to bed.
