There is very little to be said for this one. League position and points wise we have little chance except Portsmouth's dash for promotion has taken a bit of a bash of late and they have lost a few where we have won a few. I don't think our current form or their's will be remotely relevant this weekend. The weather forecast for Saturday is crap once again so it will be a leveller in any event. Can we win it yes we can but then again so could they quite easily and by a margin. We will have to be on top form. I refuse to get carried away with any hype and it is a game worth the same 3 points as any other.

News that Jack Whatmough one of Portsmouth's main central defenders is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury....they're a bit skint in this position so it seems.
Plus a hard Cup replay on Tuesday evening, losing 2-0 at QPR is another set back for them....this gives us as good a chance as possible at the moment to get a result....really essential that we don't give an early goal away and keep the pressure on them....a good time for Carey to find his goal scoring touch again....I think he as only scored 3 or 4 goals all season.

They have a big squad plym so losing one player or even two won't or shouldn't make that much difference to them. It would be a good game for Carey to come good again that's for sure and he does sort of owe us a couple. There again his assists have been numerous so if he isn't scoring he is giving others chances. We are due a couple of penalties this season not having had many. What's the chances of a homer Ref apart from no fecking chance?

Wind has dropped a lot overnight but still bit breezy, should be a decent day for football with the promise of a few showers later . Feeling good about this one , another 3 points would be brilliant but will be content with 1.

Very competitive stuff in the 1st half. Argyle giving as good as they get - at least.

    Very tense, combative first half.

I don't know what Adam's said at half time but Argyle went straight at Portsmouth's throat from the restart. It was almost one way traffic for a while until Letheren conceded a corner in the course of a fine save. The corner was cleared but the ball fell to Close 20+ yards out. He hit a low shot very sweetly through a ruck of players who I assume unsighted Letheren. O-1.

Portsmouth's Evan's, already booked, was lucky not to get a second yellow for blasting the ball over Letheren's bar from 60 yards when Argyle had been awarded a free kick in the centre circle.

And then came a free kick...

Carey arc-ed it over the wall with the keeper helpless. Glorious. Simply glorious.

An all out slug fest then ensued with both sides going for the winner.

Fantastic second half, thrilling. A draw not an unfair result but if either side deserved to win, it was Argyle.

I have to say I can see why Portsmouth's season is coming off the wheels somewhat. I didn't think they were a top 2 or 3 side and we were the better side no matter what the stats say. They took the lead against the run of play and our equaliser was more than fair. We probably would have settled for a point at the start of this but in the end I genuinely think they should consider it a point gained for them.

The Ref started very well for me and he let a few things go which he should have done. A few throwing oneself to the floor and he ignored it. Then suddenly out of nowhere he started to give a few strange decisions. How he could ignore them to start the match yet give even softer ones half way through god alone knows. I agree with notdistant in that Evans knew exactly what he was doing when he booted the ball as far away as he could when the whistle had gone. He should have been booked never mind he already had been. That is the Ref coping out. I don't care if you have been booked or not, if the offence warrants a booking normally then you should be. They more than got away with one. Bogle is a diving moaner and they have a couple of others like that. They are not promotion material. No sour grapes from me just saying what I saw.

Adams has been talking about a tactical shift at half time that gave us the upper hand. That's a bit beyond ordinary fans like me.

What I will say is that our key players: Lamerias, Carey and Ladapo actually didn't have storming games by their standards and yet we could well have beaten the team in 4th place.

Not a complaint, I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it's a strong result, but we can do better than that and that's reassuring.

Once again worth waking up early for. i still think the way we are playing we should survive the drop.

Thinking about it overnight, that's a bit unfair to Graham Carey, who played well in the second half.

I would think most of us would have accepted a point at the beginning of the match.

But when you consider that out of ten shots at goal only one was on target and that was Carey's free kick.

Something needs to change so that we hit the target more often.....just one shot on target in 90 minutes and it is successful....some people would think that we where very lucky......not one shot on target from open play.

Portsmouth had 13 shots with 6 on target.
