https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ium-Championship-plot-426m-redevelopment.html I know it’s the daily fail but let’s see what the consultation consists of
Sounds like a story plantet by the counsil designed to put pressure on the people in charge of the club. Sort of a pay up or shut up piece. Giving fans four options, all of whom seem plausible. Three where the club owners can get away with a new stadium cost free, only rent, but no income apart from gates. Or the fourth option, pay for it yourself but with less potential for revenues as it would be a smaller scale development. Either way, imo it's good to get this up in the open forum. Hopefully moving it along faster. Something have to happen soon!
Good to see some sort of positive development here, a 45,000 stadium would be a bit over the top size-wise considering last night we couldn't get 15,000 with 3,000 visiting fans for one of our top matches of the season. 35,000 would be more than adequate. Renting from the council would be sensible provided it isn't extortionate. I would expect the club would benefit from redeveloping Loftus Road into housing although I suspect this may be part of the bargaining in the project getting the go-ahead. I'd certainly like to see a bit more detail but am cautiously optimistic we may, at long last, be getting somewhere...
Opening bid. None of the options for a stadium work without QPR wanting to own/rent it. I would have thought shared ownership would be a possibility.
Not like the Daily Fail to get their facts wrong....... Otherwise, quite a positive story. Don't really think a 45k stadium is suitable for us, but the smaller options seem quite tangible.
I would never believe anything written in the Fail, but this does look like something is going to happen before I am Hovis.
Not sure if this has also been posted yet as I’m out on a fire brigade reunion... https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/8524179/qpr-plan-45000-seat-stadium-pitch-roof/
I would be very sceptical to a rent option. Just ask Coventry. You need to own your home, or else face certain uncertainty.
Have to say though, £70 million for a new stadium is mega-cheap in comparison to some recently built...
What do you do at a brigade reunion 9s Look for derelict buildings to set fire to Or Stare at trees looking for cats
Just got home kiwi. We meet every year and raise a glass ( or ten ) to an ex colleague who sadly passed away. We swing the lamp and reminisce of incidents from bygone years and talk about the characters that probably don't or cannot exist in this PC age. We're all retired from the job and this annual meet is particular to the White Watch A25 Westminster, which was my first posting and has which has now closed thanks to Boris Johnson. This was one of London's premier fire station's that has protected establishments such as Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing St. MI5, Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, The Home Office, The Foreign Office, The Commonwealth Office, The House of Commons, The House of Lords, Big Ben, Portcullis House, Victoria Station, The Banqueting House ( Charles I executing site, ) New Scotland Yard, Old Scotland Yard, The Tate Gallery, The Ministry of Defence and numerous other Government buildings. As well as a huge residential area which also incorporates the area of Pimlico which has many residential areas which forms a bubble in one of the loops of the Thames. In my time there ( 14 years ) I attended major fires at Buck Palace, House of Lords, Foreign Office, Norman Tebbitt's house and The National Gallery as well as numerous serious fire's in and around the area of Pimlico. There was also an incident where a man set himself alight on Parliament Square and I appeared on News at Ten loading his sadly charred body onto an air ambulance helicopter in the early nineties. Anyway, to cut a long story short, they got rid of a prime location fire station that served the public and the Govenment's most promnent buildings and sold it to one of Boris's mates who is now selling off 11 apartments starting at £2.7m and a restaurant on the ground floor which has been sold to Princess Diana's cousin. All in the best public interest of course. https://www.alchemigroup.com/wfs
Typical of what's happening all over London now but especially in prime location areas. A few hundred yards from that fire station I used to go to the Civil Service Recreation Centre just behind the Channel 4 building which was purpose built in the 90s and a really excellent facility, unbelieveably after about 12 years use it was closed and sold off for redevelopment. There's another big development opposite the C4 building that's been f*cking up the traffic for the past year or so as well, it seems anywhere there's a parcel of land is a development opportunity for the 'old boys network'. Sad thing is it'll be Russian or Chinese buyers and not necessarily living there...
Yes that's the one Soops, bottom of Horseferry Road which was totally gridlocked yesterday end to end. I think the development you're referring to is Grenadier House which is adjacent to the Royal Horticultural Halls.
I started a response, but as it went on it seemed more and more geared towards wanting me to give reasons to oppose any development.
I will complete this but I hear what weight they will attribute to people who live outside the borough who are obviously QPR fans?
