Really don't see the logic behind that one. No fellow countrymen to worry about in either group. Odd.
Hopefully the fixture scheduler gods will make the Belgrade away leg the round 1 fixture. A Munich "double header" starting on round 3 would be painful given the PL schedule.
Three things stand out about drawing Crvena Zvezda 1.) The last time we played them we squeaked through 2-1 on aggregate, back in 1972 2.) Goran Bunjevcevic and Milenko Acimovic played for both clubs 3.) Bloody hell, they go through managers quickly, don't they?
How can that be, given the Bel-Spurs count dropped with the sale of Dembele ?? Or have UEFA done a Tuttle/Buttle eff-up with NDombele ??
Not a bad group all told. Bayern have invested heavily this summer but are far from the powerhouse they once were. The other two teams will be tricky - both away trips will be especially hostile. Chelsea's group is deceptively tricky. Lille and Valencia won't be easy. Group F is the stand-out Group of Death. Group G is the stand-out Group of No One Cares All in all quite a nicely balanced draw.
Happy with that. Wanted Bayern as they’re one of the last euro super giants I’ve yet to see live. On paper we beat the other two, on current form... anybody’s guess.
