Places like the Deaf Club may not survive mate. Losing the football trade will hurt them and there won't be the same money around when this is done. Do you know how the Deaf Club is owned mate?
It's run on a volunteer basis marra all staff are volunteers in there so that place just might survive other bit of glimmer of hope daily infection rate has come down for the 2nd day running
I hope they make it Hank. I wouldn't take too much from the infection rate though, Italy's is on the way back up and they're in lockdown as well.
That what gets me with lock down Spain & Italy been in lock down for weeks but no visual sign of improving so the question is do they work
The virus is spread by human contact so I think it's best to keep people apart and restrict movement. The problem is that many people were infected when they were confined to home. So the infection only became apparent in them by the time they'd infected others in their household. These confirmed infected people have to be transported to isolation and cared for by people without adequate protection ... ... just like the UK and it's terrifying.
please log in to view this image Well I must say, its all been most entertaining I'm concerned about this PM too
I love the way people are posting what a good job bozo boris is doing whilst shouting down others who question anything. Boris is trying to save the strain on the NHS, That will be the same NHS his tory party has decimated and would of coped much better without so many cuts then. Boris is thinking of our welfare. Is he fook, the police are fining people for being out in their car yet you are allowed to walk around for exercise there's some big businesses still operating even though they aren't essential but workers allowed to travel and mingle hmmm. Of course people aren't allowed to question things as they will get shouted down as idiots by the sheep. People questioned whether the earth was flat once upon a time but were called idiots . I hope I'm one of the estimated 7 million who has already had this virus since the Spanish flu virus mutated to kill the healthy high immune, Then again experts reckon this virus will not mutate and be anywhere near as deadly as Spanish flu, or then again, they could be wrong
Tbf, I'd expect them to be making medical products for the world to buy seeing as we pretty much depend on China to manufacture a boat load of the stuff we need/use. Additionally, bio weapons aren't just dangerous, they are uncontrollable, even if you have an antidote or vaccine already in place. Simply because you have no idea if that virus will mutate in the time period it is loose in human populations. And if it did, your antidotes and vaccines are rendered useless. Having said that, I do believe the long game of the powers that be are a global government with a global digital currency, so this outbreak heps nicely along with that agenda imo. What I'd like to see come out of this is a realisation that our dependancy on China for so much of what we need isn't the greatest idea in the world, even if it is a couple of quid cheaper. I'd like to think that any sort of back lash against that dependancy could be focussed instead on us becoming as self reliant as we can be in terms of producing food and manufacturing our own goods. I'm not convinced that the ruling powers of this country would be as keen as I am to see that through like but hey ho, I can dream.
A great deal of what we import from China is shyte electronic toys, throwaway cosmetics and clothes that last half a dozen washes ... ... not to mention the iron and steel we used to make ourselves and employ thousands of men to do it.
Apologies here guys for what may seem like a stupid question. Just been watching Sky News UK and some knob (well he seems like it to me) named Pollard (Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) is banging on about food being left to rot in the fields. Basically he's saying that the UK will need 80,000 seasonal immigrant workers to pick the crop and plant the new ones. By the sound of that he's saying open the borders for these workers but test them. Now i might be an idiot and Mrs Ozzy often says i am but why can't those who have lost their jobs fick the fruit and veges for example? I realise that these seasonal European pickers may be cheaper to employ but surely the government could subsidise British workers to do the same job. The way Pollard was speaking sounded like he thought picking fruit was a job that was below Brits?
When I see the word 'shadow' I just think that it's going to be someone determined to try to divide us as a nation . . . . a nation that needs to be 'as one' for the foreseeable This might seem like a stupid question, too, Ozzy, but was he just another idiot determined to divide us ?
Once everybody has gone hungry for a couple of weeks you will soon find that it’s not beneath us to pick food.
Similar situation as other globalised industries, the conditions and wages are ****. You're on minimum wage, back breaking hard graft, then because you're actually camping on the farm's land, you get charged for that. So bring in a load of foreign labour to do the graft. I'm actually looking for a job at the minute, not going briliantly like, and looked into doing this. Unfortuanately, the closest place to me that needs people is up by Jedburgh and I live in Darlo so it's a no go. As roooch 3 rightly says, wait till people are hungry. See plenty of them going out to the fields then.
It isn't like that anymore, We rely on China a lot more than most people think. Including the USA. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/the-clock-is-ticking-for-companies-that-depend-on-china-imports
Yep, plenty of useless crap and shoddy work, disposable consumerism refined to a tee. Combined with a government that manipulates it's own currency to ensure it can remain the factory of the world, putting people out of work the world over as they basically susidise their own economy. And as we're seeing with the reports of food being left in the ground, in a country that only produces about 50% of what it needs, it isn't a secure position to be in to be dependant on foriegn nations for goods or labour in areas of what I consider to be essential for our nation's security, namely food and health.
