https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-signing-Mohammed-Salisu-Real-Valladolid.html Southampton are close to signing Mohammed Salisu from Real Valladolid, pending a work permit. French club Rennes had been the main competition for the Ghanaian defender but Salisu has told them he wants to play in the Premier League with Southampton. The 21-year-old has a £10.9million buy out clause and Southampton have a deal in place with Valladolid to sign the 6ft 3ins centre back.
I’m sure the work permit is just a formality. These deals rarely get this far without confidence that they’ll go through. Like any good lawyer you don’t ask the question unless you already know the answer.
I'll be over the moon if this deal goes though, Saints getting there number one target at CB for a meer 11Million. If we get the predicted 18/20Million for Vestergaard we can use thst other money for KWP, seems to be some decent business going on. Quietly confident so far.
Can't see us getting anywhere near that for Vestergaard. Bloody hope I am wrong but along with the quoted "£35m" Hojbjerg I would expect about half of that
I feel a lot of optimism about our transfers. We have a profile for what kind of player we want. We have a lot of confidence in our coach as the leader of a new blueprint for the first team and the youth sides. He will know what kinds of bodies he needs. Crocker is an outstanding candidate as DoF and with his background in academy management he matches Ralph in understanding the value of a pathway to the first team. It all looks very logical from the outside. I still would like to see them appoint a player trading head as they has mentioned, just because if done correctly it’s an opportunity for further efficiency in the process and in potentially saving money. It’s a shame the financial side feels so screwed up because everything else looks rosy.
I've got no idea what he's like, but unless our scouting department have really out done themselves, I'm confident that he won't be worse than Vestergaard.
