can see it happening with the Jose connection His experience in defending titles will be so important to us
I think you need to win titles before you start to worry about defending them On a serious note, have you watched Ramos the last six months? he is not the player he was but that may be down to Zidane or players around him.
can always rely on you to nibble no not really watched him...expect a bit of decline considering his age but his experience is priceless for a team like Spurs at the juncture we are at with our progress imo.
Doesn't look happy at all which is why i mentioned manager/team mates. He still looks fit enough and fast enough, just something lacking. EDIT...........would i take him at OT, oh yes like a shot
David Ornstein reckons Dele could be sold in January as he isn’t part of Jose’s plans. Wonder how much we’d actually get for him now. Little over 2 years ago you wouldn’t be deluded by thinking of around £100m. Now... think we’d be lucky to bank over £30m.
I think it will be best for everyone if he moves on he needs to be playing and probably needs a change of scene. Overseas hopefully as that may generate the biggest fee, we could do with Poch getting a new job as he may well like to take him to that club with him. In todays market I agree that £30m seems about right with a few add ons and a big sell on clause.
Keep up, the Narrative of the last day or two is how Lamela is "obviously" leaving in January, because Kevin Campbell says so
Mourinho needs to be finding a way of getting the best out of Dele, not selling him. We are short of creativity against the bus parkers as it is, selling Dele just makes that problem worse. We have been lucky to scrape narrow wins against WBA and Burnley, games in which we struggled to create much, sooner or later we will drop points in these type of games if we don`t improve in and around the opposition box, an on form Dele could give us that spark.
Neither Poch nor Jose have been able to get a tune out of him for nearly three years now though. Comes a time where you just have to say “ok, done”. Can’t afford to keep passengers if we want to progress, it was essentially a huge contributing factor as to why Poch got sacked, he persisted with too many who were letting him down.
As I keep saying, Dele is a player who thrives on us creating space, which we were so good at between 2015-18 when we had Dembele creating space that Kane, Dele, Eriksen and Son could all exploit, which we could do with the Dembele/Wanyama and Dembele/Dier pivots but ever since Winkssoko became the norm we ceased being able to, and changing to a counterattacking setup isn't going to create space What would do Dele a lot of good in the current setup is to retool himself into more of a Lampard-type midfielder, but to do that he'll need to work on his physicality and the defensive side of his game, and that's not a process that can be done in a few weeks worth of training sessions
He is no more of a passenger than Lamela, Bergwjin and Lucas are, in the last 2 seasons in the PL he has still produced 13 goals and 7 assists in 50 appearances, which is not too shabby considering he has had some niggling injury problems and been playing for a team in transition. He is still a good player and could be what we miss in certain games, it is a shame Mourinho does not currently fancy him / use a system to get the best from him.
Lamela and Lucas are squad players and eventually both need to be looked to improved on. Lamela would be fine if he wasn’t so injury prone but we can’t keep wasting a spot on someone who’s generally only available for about half a season. Bergwijn’s basically in the same boat as Dele at the moment. It’s not that much of a shame because Dele's had more than enough chances under different managers and he’s been unable to cement a spot. Kane has also evolved his game to negate the need for someone like Dele too. We just lack a prime Eriksen type who can control the tempo of a game, Lo Celso and Ndombele may be able to do so but they’ve gotta sort their fitness out.
Grealish said he likes being compared to Gazza. So he’s basically saying he wants to emulate him at Spurs... . Sami Khedira has also said he’ll happily play for Jose again. 33, short term option for some Hojbjerg competition?
It’s a demanding position...has he got the legs to cut it in the Prem? would take him for the experience and winning mentality to help us along.
