I had to build this big Lego Chima castle thing for my middle 'un one Christmas.

I knew it would be an absolutely impossible task in the day, so built it Christmas Eve so it was ready for the day. Had to get the kids to be first, obvs.

It was a ****ing epic task. I think I finished the main castle itself at about one am, having drank port and wine while doing it. All the vehicles and stuff I couldn't do, we built them in the morning.

Those days are over now! He's having a phone ffs.

*an old one of mine upcycled I should add*

I've been looking at Lego sets this week to get him actually. There's some epic Jurassic World ones but I really can't justify two ton for one ****ing set that he'll build in about 5 hours.

    This was the ****er.

It ended up in pieces, so I took it away with me when I was working away and rebuilt the ****er from a pile of bricks, bit by bit, in the evenings.

    Then brought it home again.

All of my two son's Lego stuff is now in one big tub, all sorts of ****. Can't bring myself to give it away really.

They've still got some of the technical stuff lying about. A racing car and hovercraft I think!

This will he for me, no other ****er will go near it. I'm not going to spend daft money, but it needs to be good.

What should I buy? And what should I mix it with?

Get up 7.30ish, open presses with kids, leave home about 9.00 get to shelter in town about 9.30, help serve up breakfast or lunch depending what they want, leave about 1.30 ish, home for dinner and everything that goes with it , all the family round, 18 of us, goes on until the last one collapses, which is usually about 4am, start again at the sister in laws about 4pm boxing day, another late finish, then walk around like a zombie for 2 days, eating crap and sipping water.

Sounds right up my street that. Parents have invited me over this Xmas, I’ve played the Covid card, and I’ll spend it alone.

If you want good rum it won't be mixed with anything. Budget?

Actually never mind budget just get the El Dorado 12 year currently going for £38 on Amazon. Think I recommended to @Gessa a while back, for price it's really good. I've spent more and had worse.

I don't think you really grow out of lego, whenever I'm at my sisters and my nieces have it out, I always build something with it

El Dorado a good shout. I can't drink rum - or any spirit really - neat though unless I'm only having the one. I end up smashing off too many in the first hour and end up trashed. Have to have at least a splash of coke, or 50-50 at most. Never any more than that.

Bumbu is also a pretty nice rum for a reasonable price, about £30 iirc.

If you're mixing there's no point spending much though, for a mixer the best I've tried is Plantation original dark. Mix with coke Ice and lime. You can get that in ASDA.

Some say add an ice cube to neat rum but not for me, it just dilutes the liquid and I much prefer it neat.

Not even 8 and I'm talking about rum.

Well yeah that's why I'd never buy a properly decent one to drink in that way. Can still taste the difference in a 30-40 quid bottle compared to a 20 quid one though, especially if only a splash. I normally do a tumbler about 2/3rd full with a couple of ice cubes n then a dash of mixer.

Like I say I can have one neat but no more than that unfortunately as it doesn't end well for me. Agree that I wouldn't have ice when having it that way.

Don’t think I’ve enjoyed a spirit, ever. It’s just varying degrees of not liking it, from tolerable to utterly ****ing rancid.

If I was forced to have a few shots it would be a Patron Tequila.

Which is strange because I do love a Long Island Iced Tea.
