Southampton and Liverpool are the only two teams currently in the Premier League whose names consist solely of a city. Not many people know that.
Che should not have continued plain and simple, we're much more aware of delayed problems with knocks on the head of this nature. Not impressed by the support or protection he received, I'm afraid. If it's dangerous play, it's a foul then it's a penalty where he took the hit. The FA need to have a good look at their referee oversight after this incident.
Apologies, absolutely correct, got a bit too annoyed, unusually, and a bit carried away. I'll go back to my hole in the ground!!
Probably not that many throughout the leagues. I'm struggling to think of many. Portsmouth, obviously. And Sunderland. Gets tricky after that.
Looking at this http://www.doingthe92.com/alphabetical.asp?step=211&ID=1 Only Saints, Pool, Pompey & Sunderland are teams that names consist entirely of a city.
I don’t think it was dangerous play, just an unfortunate accident. The ball dropped and their player swung at it (low) and Che’s head moved in the way. I agree about post incident protection though.
Love this sort of stuff. Anyone name the only two professional clubs in England that are not named after a specific place?
