He's 30 in January and as you say will cost alot on wages . He doesn't seem to be a Webber signing . IF we get promoted I would be more inclined to plunder the 3 relegated sides or play off Losers best talent.
To somewhat argue against myself, King could very easily be a £15m player. Over the last 5 Premier League seasons, he averages over 10 goal involvements (goals and assists) per season, dipping below that just once. At the top end, 16 goals in one season. As a free agent, on £75k p/w for 3 years, our total outlay is less than £12m. If we want to buy someone and pay them £40k p/w, that leaves less than £6m for a transfer fee. How easy is it to find a £6m forward who will fit our way structure, offer as much as King might from Day 1, and have the potential to be sold for big money in the future?
We wouldn’t give him more than a 2-year deal anyway, would we? Or even a 12-month contract with an option to extend. I think we should be looking at all options, and as long as King isn’t breaking the bank then if Farke’s thinks he can offer enough to help keep us up then I say go for it. Not every player investment has to be with a view to selling on at a profit.
There's also a need to judge attitude and character in any player brought in. Hugill is a good example of a player accepting his role behind Pukki and making the most of the chances he gets. I'm not sure King or the likes of Toney would be so willing to fit in that way. I'm not sure Drmic was, especially as he also had the problem of injuries. We already have Idah with a different skillset and Sinani who, like King, can play as a striker or AM. I was impressed with him in pre-season. Then there is Soto as well according to how he develops.
That's something our team of 2021 is missing , we never score headers if Hugill played more we probably would have had a few . I would rather we take short corners as we are pretty ineffective McLean and Handley usually get up but rarely trouble the keeper
Buendia cracked the bar with one a couple of games ago. I usually don't like short corners, but given how pants we seem to be at scoring from headers then perhaps we should do more, or pass it to someone at the corner of the 18 yard box to try and bend one in the far corner
New rumor: Ozan Tufan DMC from Fenerbahce. Looks good on paper, valued c £8.5m on Transfermarkt. He has two years left on his contract and the club have an option to extend, so I would expect him to be much more expensive than £8.5.
Agree that he looks good on paper with 57 caps for Turkey and 5 goals and 6 assists this season so far. He is also versatile as a DM who can also play at CM, AM or even RB. Even £8.5m is a lot of money though, especially if Liverpool are supposed to be interested, which could drive the price higher. Have to wait and see on this one.
This sounds a little out of our weight class at first glance. Though if Buendia or Air-uns go for the reported fees we may actually have something in that dusty war chest. Attitude will be important if we do step up with one or more expensive signings. We don't need a Billy-Big-Bollox rocking the changing room dynamics.
This finishes the Beukema rumour: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/sam-beukema-signs-for-az-alkmaar-norwich-city-7866332 Also here's Paddy Davitt's take on Ozan Tufan: https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwic...fer-rumours-ozan-tufan-premier-league-7863324 It still seems to be a risk, but given his versatility, he seems to have the extended skillset ranging from attack to defence we would need in the PL.
Having seen in the news that he’s linked with Leicester, Everton, Liverpool etc it sounds to me more like his agent is trying to drum up something This is not how we do business so I think it’s highly unlikely
It doesn't seem logical given the way we've operated in the past. We're better placed than we were two years ago, but not to take this sort of risk.
Vrancic hasn't played a single minute of first team football since assisting the winner against Brentford, 5 games ago. Stiepermann was preferred to him from the bench yesterday. Just a case of giving Stiepermann time to get up to speed and show what he's got, or a sign Vrancic is on the way out? Similarly, Tettey hasn't played much more than stoppage time in any game since 12th December, and only has 4 starts all season. Sorensen and Omobamidele preferred to him yesterday, when against a physical Preston side Tettey probably would have been the safer pick.
Hard to know really. It could be that Stieperman was considered the better option for holding a lead, especially at set pieces. Mario is usually the choice when we need another goal. I can see that DF wants to give Sørensen playing time in midfield as Skipp won't be with us next year. DF did say he had complete faith in Omobamidele at CB and that was Bourne out by his performance as he looks to be a really good player. Next season we'll also have the option of Famewo at CB who is now 22 after his loan to Charlton. He is left footed, so a natural back-up for Gibson and he can also play at LB or DM so would offer cover and seem to have the right playing out skills. The Pinkun has reported that both Vrančić and Tettey are in contract negotiations so we'll have to see. Their PL experience could be a key factor.
Planning for next season, I reckon. We are more or less promoted so Farke can afford to be future planning, within reason. I reckon he’d have played Tettey if it was a must-win game. Our early successes this season really have been a hugely lucky opportunity to play the likes of Mumba and Omobamidele, and even Josh Martin and Barden, giving them experience they just wouldn’t have got had we been struggling along. Of course some of it forced, but the fact we’ve been doing so well makes it less concerning
It also reinforces that we are a club that is not afraid to give youth a chance. Which helps greatly when we are trying to sign promising youngster. If you are good enough there is a clear pathway from youth player to first team
