Well I’ve said that since last Autumn. A better striker up front would have seen more chances taken from the amount we create.
Tom’s crap, he’s not championship standard and I’ve not seen anything to suggest he’s good l1 standard
He'd be lucky to get into a Sunday League team, IMHO he's one of the worse players to ever pull on the shirt.
You haven't been watching us long if you feel Tom eaves is one of the worst players to ever pull on the shirt
I don’t mind Eaves. He’s still not fully match fit. He certainly causes more problems for defenders allowing our wide players and midfielders the opportunity to get into attacking areas.
Because he gets in the way, gets too close to the other players who are in that position already, they then try to pass it off to Eaves as he’s not in the middle, so that has to be a short pass, the pass then bounces off Eaves & goes to the opposition or out of play.
When we play well, it is, today we started out doing that, but it quickly turned into, knock it over the top to Wilks. My point is, when we do play that, we’re eventually looking for an out ball into the more danger area, where Eaves should be, but most of the time, Eaves is a like a ball repellent, rarely does it stick, most of the time it bounces off him.
I think you remember Eaves' mistakes a lot more than you remember his good play. He had plenty of decent link-up touches today.
I would also, but I still feel we need a better player in that position to do anything worthwhile in the Championship. If we played 2 upfront, then Magennis along with a goal scorer would be okay IMO, but being a lone striker then I think we need better.
Certainly, he could do well in the situation, but as we know if McCann is around it's not going to happen.
Seriously? I love Tom Eaves, I really want him to be a success, but he is just too poor a player even for the top of L1 let alone the Championship. Even when he gets hold of the ball, he is too slow in thinking and moving so that by the time he moves it on all the space has gone, even supposiing he manages to pass it to someone in the same coloured shirt. Yesterday, in the space of five minutes he got too slow passes rolled to him, under no pressure, and managed to still mis-control both and cough up possession. He has the occasional good twenty minutes for us, he'd be better off in L2 where he would probably fill his boots.
Not a bad game to watch, Crewe, like the game at the KCOM, they pass the ball well, much better than we do, and look a good team and better than their position in the league. They won the midfield battle and did a good job of marshalling both Honeyman & Docherty. Even though Regan has played well the last 2 games, we miss Jones in the midfield role. They did a much better job shielding their back four, when we went forward, we found it difficult getting the ball up to the forwards. However, whenever they came forward they seemed to easily get through the midfield and looked more dangerous in the final third. I thought on balance they looked the better side on the day, however, credit to the manager and the players for finding a way of getting the win and the 3 points. Great way to get the win, nothing better than a last-minute winner.
Well there you go. By your own analysis, two poor touches in five minutes from Eaves outweighs twenty minutes of decent play. Do you do the same with KLP? He definitely had at least two poor touches yesterday, is he a League 2 clogger too? Tom Eaves isn’t a top class striker. He’s a half decent League 1 link man. He’s a big man but he’s not especially good in the air, he has a decent touch and can finish chances. He’s not our greatest player, he’s not our worst. But the line of people queuing up to slag him off the instant he has a poor touch - well that says more to me about the moaners than it does the player.
