It’s back again, the big test, the soul breaker...29/30 days, 17/18 hours a day, no food, no drink, no pumpum during daylight hours. Anyway as usual, I take great pleasure in sharing this emotional rollercoaster with my Pagan bredren on here and shall log my day to day on here. As usual I expect you all to adhere to the ‘no posting food pics during sunlight hours’ rule on here. Dont really know why I’m mentioning it tbh coz you all respect this rule impeccably, if previous years is anything to go by. My first fast is actually on Wednesday but for the benefit of my bredda @JakartaToon who's begin tomorrow, thread up today. I’m ready for this please log in to view this image
I couldn't do fasting, food & drink, not without being very unwell. The metabolic barriers alone would be a challenge.
So we are off here. Already half way through the first day. First day is just about getting into the routine: 3.45am Get up to eat 4.28am Air raid siren goes off to a) annoy any non-Muslims in the area and b) tell you to stop eating/drinking 4.38am Call to prayer rings out from the local mosques (just to make sure none of the non-Muslims have gone back to sleep) 4.50am Back to sleep My sahur meal was grilled tenderloin, boiled potatoes and mixed vegetables with garlic plus a plate of fruit, copious amounts of water and a starfruit juice. No photos as it will be criticised for being dry and I do need to tell the maids it isn't illegal to eat gravy before 4am in the morning. Working from home is a boon during Ramadan as I can either start work immediately after praying and have a kip later in the day when I start to tire, or go back to bed until 8am and then walk the 15 steps to my office. First test is going to be my personal fitness session just before breaking fast (which sorry @Spurlock but is at 1752 here today). My trainer is a Christian but hopefully he will have a bit of compassion.
Yeh it was a bit. My Mrs normally bring loads of those sachet black pepper, mushroom etc sauces but as she has been in lockdown my food is on the dry side.
The bit about non-muslims made me laugh. Although I'm not sure anything could wake me at 4.30 in the morning.
Everyone just setting an alarm would probably improve relations between the Muslim community and non Muslims. Just a thought.
Didn’t have breakfast today...in fact only going to eat in evening...get my body alert to it. Glad I got a few days off work this week. Got to take your own prayer mats to the mosque. I haven’t been for the whole lockdown because COVID was spreading in them...maybe still is. need to get my head around that and get going again
Years ago I use to live near a church, every fooking Sunday! Tbph, it use to have a quite a welcome calming feel about it, as if one was at peace with nature.
