Where did I say that? How can you struggle so much to understand basic English?

So you agree that the mountain of public debt and bankrupt businesses is almost entirely due to the lockdowns and trade with the EUROPEAN UNION is miniscule in comparison?

It would be easier if you actually typed what you mean instead of me guessing what you think .

I am pretty certain that if we didn't go into lockdowns and borrow money to try and counter this that the UK economy would have carried on pretty much the same as 2019 figures .

You appear to be asserting that other than the hospitality sector and retail the lockdowns have barely impacted our economy.

No, YOU said the lockdown was why the economy is ****ed. I said it's impossible to untangle the mess the Tories have caused, but the impact of Brexit is much higher than you 'think'.

Try reading what I've written ffs.

YES I said the lockdowns are the cause of the ****ed economy and any negative effects of Brexit would be insignificant .

Compared to pretty much every EUROPEAN UNION state we will not be as badly effected .

Especially as we have apparently tamed this plague and supposed to be opening up where as many EUROPEAN UNION countries are still effectively closed for business.

Germany and France are in their third lockdown and Germany will consider reopening in May or June .

There's an argument that had we still been under the control of Ursula von der Leyen and Brussels then we would also be locked down until May or June .

Hopefully our economy can bounce back quicker than the German and French economies making the decision to leave the block advantageous both economically and less Corona lockdowns will surely be a major factor .

I bring up these countries as they are tasked with propping up the rest of the countries that are eternally bet beneficiaries rather than contributors.

We are directly competing with them now and not subsidising the rest .

Luckily we only have to prop up Scotland and Wales and not Poland Romania etc .

The question is can the EUROPEAN UNION stay solvent without us paying for it ?

Time will tell but I'm guessing it will collapse in on itself by 2030 .

I assume you are just guessing that the negative impact Brexit has had is insignificant? As Toby has said already it is impossible to work out what has been caused by what. Brexit will definitely have had an effect on the downturn of trade with the EU, it would be daft to say otherwise. I suppose we may never know how much of an effect though.

We officially left 31st December and coincidentally China reported the plague on the same day a year previously so it is impossible to gauge.

Continued lockdowns will cripple economies in a much worse way than the trade between the UK and the EUROPEAN UNION.

As I mentioned already if Spain misses out on tourism again this year then they are pretty much toast economically.

I certainly won't be going this year .

Pretty sure St Javier Airport that I used the last few times has closed down permanently which was an enormous waste of money .

Indeed, "impossible to gauge", like I said. Spain is definitely missing the tourists, but bars/restaurants etc have been open here for months and months. Some hotels are open, but no point all of them opening with no tourists.

But did they have a positive plague test in the last 28 days? The Office for National Statistics needs to know so it is included in the count on the BBC News At Ten. Sod the bus.

Should that not be on the “Coronavirus. Just Coronavirus.” thread? <laugh>

I do hope they're leading by example and cycling to the European games as well as league ones, rather than taking mucky aeroplanes and coaches.

Why would you be worried about the banking sector? I thought you were a Socialist.
