How has the momentum shifted ? Confidence? Skill? Attitude? Poor man-management? Methinks that it is a fear of opposition tactics. We need to make them fear us and adapt to us rather than the other way.
Got attitude written all over it, this. We've all seen it plenty of times before. Some of these lads know they're out the door if we were to go up.
The players are bang average and lacking in confidence. We have no central defenders, our central midfielders are pretty slow and dont create. Apart from Wyke nobody else scores regularly. Mcgeady and Jones are good but we must be quite easy to suss out for opposition as the wingers are the only source of assists. And the manager has history of this kind of form. It's just awful. We will limp into play offs but this team ain't getting promoted
I'm not a superstitious man and don't believe in fate or any of that nonsense. But it is uncanny how almost every Sunderland team throughout history seems to have an uncanny knack of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory in the most spectacular way imaginable. We can change the manager, the owner, the entire starting 11... The outcome is always the same. It's like we're cursed
Is Johnson coaching them? They have absolutely no substance in style of play... Or is he over coaching them and they have no idea what the hell he wants! He quoted his favoured formation a few weeks ago yet hasn't played that formation once since and very rarely at all. So wtf is he doing and why?
We were flying until McGeady was given a free role , him and Leadbitter can’t play in the same team because it kills TEMPO - get players to play to their strengths McGeady was producing a lot more when he was on the left wing and terrifies defenders . Our deadball attempts are very poor surely we should have a nominated player to take free kicks and corners . We are going to scrape in to the play offs hopefully so we need to change things around to find a winning formula .
geads /hume on the left and maguire/onien on the right were turning into decent partnerships at one point then it all changed (some obviously forced) but imho 'messing' with the starting line up and changing formations can only lead to a struggle to come to terms with it all and i think we see that regularly now with the amount of stray passes and lack of understanding.
don't...i joked about us being cursed years ago, now i am not so sure it was only a joke, it really does seem like some 'invisible force' turns opposition keepers into world class against us while the entire team forget how to play the game.
Nobody pays many peanuts in League One though. If you buy a monkey, you get a monkey, like McFad. We need a few Cheetah's and a git big Giraffe in midfield.
Players seem to have no inspiration or motivation. No one seems to want to put that bit of extra effort in. It seems a lot of them are just going through the motions. Attitude. Attitude. Attitude
It hasn't helped we have had virtually all our centre backs injured and we are having to play players out of position. That said, this run has been a kick in the guts, but thats life as a Sunderland fan, we don't do anything the easy way.
I'm not sure what the problem is, I don't want to criticise the manager as he hasn't been here 2 minutes but some thing has gone horrendously wrong. Yes we've had some terrible injuries but we had most of them when we were on a great run, sanderson turned in to are player of the season only because he got the chance through injuries to other players. We havnt had a settled team 2 games in a row and that is down to Johnsons selections as much as injuries.. He seemed to know the right substitutions to make at the right time, now seems like he just panics. If he is to stay he needs to find 2 systems he's comfortable with and that work, use either system depending on who your playing or how the game is going. Drill it into the players so they know it in their sleep. Otherwise if he keeps changing the starting line up by 3 to 4 players and constantly changing the formation every week I really can't see him succeeding
