On Sky Action now. Pile of ****e or a guilty pleasure? I dont mind it tbf. Obviously not as good as the first one.
Definitely guilty pleasure. Shane Black was asked to direct it but was busy with another project and they didn't want to wait so went with another director. Arnold said the script was ****e and opted out also. But for me, still a nostalgia hit. The end is a massive nod to the comic aswell.
I remember (roughly) where and when I watched it for the first time, back in early 92, with an ex after a weekender living up in central Manchester, during my student days... which undoubtedly helped set the right mood for watching it. Gritty, urban and living alongside a fairly heavy drug gang culture locally. Nee aliens though, well some pyschedelic ones sometimes Not sure what I'd think if I watched it now.... .just started watching "Them" on Amazon. It's a creepy as **** series - kind of a cross between stepford wives/the shining/ Mississipi burning!
Since AVP 1 & 2 and The Predator came out this one looks better and better to be honest. Wasn't great for years but time can be kind on certain films.
watched it on a really **** pirate VHS so the whole film looked it was done in darkness. never really bothered again with it. Might be one to revisit
the crow was better and similar, got them on blu ray. i remember the first video player we got one in 1981 a top loader, expensive as well, alien the first film we watched rental(the video shop opposite the library near the fort pub) and it was squeaky, blurry and the film was dark for about 70 mins etc, and took 10 mins to rewind lol.
Every Predator film other than the original has been ****. Predators (2010) with Adrien Brody was tolerable.
Predator (i.e. the original one) was a classic. The others not so much. Problem is you know what they are and why they're here, so the mystery is gone.
it is dark, sinister and just plain evil in parts...esp considering based on real life. The good old 50s.
Watched the first episode, very good. Pissed me off a bit and made me want to knuckle duster most of the white characters in the mouth but I suppose that was the intention and a realistic depiction of the time, sadly.
