He has posted his goodbye message. The big man got emotional as he said his thanks and looked back on his time at Watford.
Thank you Troy, you were our backbone for so long. Good luck and best wishes.

I still don't really understand why he didn't try to fight for his place this season, especially given he played in the first two league games. Maybe he finally felt within himself he wasn't at this level anymore.

I hope is influence in the dressing room, which is said to be very positive isn´t missed.

Good luck to a legend who stayed on a bit too long IMHO.

Well those that wanted him gone will be happy…I myself am gutted. For so long he has been almost woven into the name of Watford. He has served the club with distinction on the pitch and no-one deserves it more to have their name sung from the stands - loud and proud
To serve a single club for 11 + years is outstanding and I wish I could have the chance to let my 12 yr old son to tell him directly what he means to him and the contribution to his own Watford memories ‘Troy Deeney - Watford’s Number 9’ has made.

    Thank You Troy!!

Guess he probably thought those chances to play might be limited and rather than stick around reading abuse from so called fans and wanted play for a club he loves.

I am sure 99% of supporters will see Troy as a WFC legends but there have been one or two quite personal in their attacks on him.

Probably the same ones who will be moaning if the current strikers don't score and Troy does at Birmingham!

(And cheering his name when he come back..)

Anyway some great memories from Troy and he has helped the club greatly on and off the pitch.

He was unlikely to make the 25 man squad and he wants to play rather than a background help and take the money.

So Gray to QPR will be completed shortly if it hasn't been already.

This has been on the cards for a couple of years now

I hope it works out for him at Birmingham and the get back to the Prem and plays for them against us in the Prem (not winning tho) or maybe a friendly against Birmingham so the real Watford fan can say goodbye to him (the others can **** off and rot)

When I watch his goal against Leicester in the playoffs I read the comment

"I am not a Watford fan but that goal always gives me goosebumps"

"That goal taking everything into account is not only Watfords greatest but one of the greatest in the history of football" (not a Watford fan)

Arsenal missed a trick they could have got him and had at least one player in their team with the right attitude and the courage they so desperately need to avoid going downing with a new low record of points and goals

We were keen to get him then but well worth it all.

Tbf one of the most negative comments is from a Walsall fan!

Probably the same one complaining about his lack of ambition here:

Bet Walsall are a bit gutted they didn't at any sell on fee in the end but not sure anyone really came in for him with a bid?

My Dad, whose first match at Vicarage Road was during the war nearly eighty years ago and who says things like “they play with beachballs these days”, says Troy Deeney is the finest Watford captain he has seen in those eighty years.
    Some testimony.

AG and TD - the antithesis of each other.

A number of reports coming out of Italy that Watford have made an offer (a high value loan with a requirement to buy dependent on certain conditions) to Cagliari for Nahitan Nandez. Watford have confirmed their interest in signing him, but there is probably not sufficient time to complete the deal. He wants to leave Cagliari and a number of top clubs have shown an interest in the 25 year old Uruguayan midfielder (who has also played at right-wing back), but no other offers have materialised.

QPR fans are very excited about signing Gray. I think they're in for a surprise <laugh>
