If we won 7-6, and the Chelsea v Norwich, and Brighton v Man City games were both 0-0 bores, the BBC would still find reasons why we'd be on after both matches (and probably others).

It reminds me of the brilliant chant during our 8-0 defeat of Sunderland: "We'll still be last on Match of the Day"

Birthday win please Saints. Last time it happened on a proper match day weekend, Mr Sofiane Boufal provided a little bit of magic. Someone same again? :1980_boogie_down:

My Dad was a centre-half in the 1930s. He said he always, always stood at the far side of the pack for corners and scored quite a few. It used to drive him mental that almost no professional footballer ever seems to do it.

I can see him in my head now watching a match, waving his hands about and saying "see, another one".

This drives me crazy in general, not just on corners. Attack the back post! So many damned crosses that miss their target end up harmlessly rolling through because there isn't someone gambling on them. If you're on the far side of play, just camp out on the shoulder of the last man and attack the space when balls come in. Worst case scenario is that you force a fullback to stick to you, and prevent them from collapsing to defend around the goalmouth.

Just seen a quote from John Cleese in Clockwise on the Website which captures the zeitgeist ...

“It’s not the despair. I can stand the despair – it’s the hope!”

First game of the season for us, looking forward to this. Don’t let us down now…

Think we may edge this, but expecting a tough game. Was hoping the two strong arms start this one :emoticon-0165-muscl:emoticon-0165-muscl

Think his guests might be right with the 0-0 prediction. The form book certainly suggests it will be low scoring anyway. I'd take a scrappy 1-0 but if we play like we did against Leeds I'd say we would win comfortably.

What are the odds of a 7 goal thriller like this one tomorrow?...

Not even priced up on Betfair.
    94/1 on 3-3 though

I’m expecting 90 minutes gnashing of teeth, sighing, and growing despondency personally.
