I’m getting old & forgetful but I’m sure a “6” was always a centre half in my day. Slater is far too tall to play centre half. Unless you mean a 6 out of 10 in which case I’m getting old & forgetful
When he first joined us on loan in League 1, he said in his club interview on YouTube that he considers himself a box-to-box midfielder/#8. From what I’ve seen, he’s neither a #10 or a defensive midfielder so he’s probably right. He’s not a winger either.
I always saw (maybe centre halves had evolved to centre backs) them as 5 & 6 with 4 as a holding (defensive) midfielder.
Goes back to the original formation in the old days, goalie 1, full backs 2 and 3 and the in 4,5,6 in the middle in the 1 2 3 5 formation. Jack Charlton was always described as a centre half. These things did evolve over time. please log in to view this image
1 or 3 games with it being a straight red I think possibly 3 as it was violent play trying to nut the ****er..
I always see it as 4 & 5 as CB’s with 6 & 8 as CM’s although after Ash was 4, it all changed a bit with 6 being CB. I’ve always liked it as: 1.GK 2.RB 3.LB 4.CB 5.CB 6.CM 7.RW 8.CM 9.CF 10.CF 11.LW 12. Sub GK.
The position that was mentioned was centre half. A centre half was number 5. The number that Jack Charlton wore for Leeds and England. The formation you are describing was later than the formation which had a centre half.
You can tell he was played onside by someone out of camera shot. Not one QPR player raised their hand to appeal for offside.
Yeh I don't doubt it was onside, I would just like to see it so I can better appreciate the quality of the run and Seri's pass.
