Yeah I hope not - he's just not good enough but Arteta seems to like him as a character. Maybe he's a good influence on the younger players?
This is basically my point though mate - they clearly DONT think these players are worth 90m - that's why they are not willing to go that far. The risk/reward is too great at that price. I don't doubt they will be willing to spend 100m on the RIGHT player.
Really want us to keep him because he’s still a quality player, but he’s way too good to be on the bench. Unfortunately, I think everything points to him leaving this summer as it’s clear Arteta prefers Zinchenko and has sometimes even played Tomiyasu at left-back ahead of KT, which speaks volume. If/when we do sell, we have to hope we get a decent fee in the region of £30m+.
I think the trouble we’re going to have is he’s barely playing so his stock isn’t high, he’s out of favour, doesn’t suit us stylistically anymore, doesn’t have an amazing injury record and is (likely) going to demand a move away. All these factors weaken our negotiating position. Based on the reports I’ve read, I think if we get an offer of around £35m+, we will accept it.
seems more realistic tbh and considering how little game time he gets and how much you have been spending in recent years ,and reportedly will continue to this year , i wouldn't be surprised if anything in the 25m range would be considered .
We paid £25m for him in 2019, so I think we’ll want to make a small profit on him (as opposed to breaking even), but yeah, although I would like more, I just don’t think it’s realistic given the circumstances.
Only appeared in 58% of the prem games that have taken place since he joined us. He can't really complain at not being relied on as a first-XI player. Seems a good guy and would have been captain-material for his attitude. But just unfortunately not reliable enough or the best LB at the club now. Unfortunate that's he's also too good to just sit on a bench and therefore deserves a move. Would make Newcastle even more solid I feel (not that they need to be anymore solid - they need goals and flair!).
NA that's too cheap. I know the markets bonkers but.. Cucurella went for 60m, Chillwell 52m plus if its Newcastle coming in you up the billionaire tax..
The circumstances for those other players were different based on demand, profile and contract. Despite Newcastle's wealthy status, they've not exactly been kamikaze spending like Chelsea. There's a danger that we price Tierney out of a move and then we keep an unhappy player at the club which will reduce his value even further should we want to sell him later. If you think we're going to get £50m for Tierney, you're going to be in for an unpleasant surprise. No chance we get that much.
From Newcastle or United - 100% they would pay 50m for Tierney. They paid 70m for Isak and 50m for Anthony Gordon. Two Seasons ago we were talking about Tierney being the top LB in the league. He's a 50m player all day. I'm tired of Arsenal selling for cheap - if a rival wants a class player like Tierney they should have to pay for him.We need to stop being soo soft.
On the subject of transfers.. When you think Chelsea paid £90m for Mudryk (with add ons) and he's a year OLDER than Martinelli or Saka. What's their market value? - seeing as both will probably hit 20+ goal/assists this Season.
