Harsh. For what it's worth, I thought even if he had heard the whistle, a little bit of common sense should have been applied. Oh, and please don't take this personal but I hope you get dicked tonight, we been your feeder club for ****ing too long.
there's a difference between kicking the ball away and hitting a shot on goal 1 second after the whistle blows. cant believe your defending that decision. (it's a respect thing) shut up
It's not harsh. He's been calling me a **** all day just for pointing out the obvious! Thanks for the sentiment tho
Ok, perhaps that was the wrong terminology. But the rules state that it is an offence if after the whistle a player kicks the ball away in frustration, if it is deemed that by the referee. The ref saw it that way, and acted according to the letter of the law. I agree it may have been a touch harsh, doesn't stop it being correct though does it?
yes because he never kicked it away in frustrastion. he hit a shot on goal. the barca players were motioning for cards to be produced all the time, this is a bookable offence but the ref just ignored it.
How do you know he didn't kick it away in frustration? Are you telling me from that position he would normally swipe at it with his chocolate leg had the ref not blown? Or would he have continued his run into the box, switching onto his favoured left foot to give himself some sort of chance of even hitting the target?
To be fair if he hadn't have heard the whistle, surely he WOULD HAVE RAN and NOT shot from there. But either way, OTT sending him off. (or giving him a 2nd booking to be sent off)
I'm with ShelfSideSpur on this one, he definitely heard the whistle, how could he not, he was only 40 yards from the ref, I was hundreds of miles away and I heard it. Like somebody said earlier, you can tell from his body language when he shot, that he knew he was offside.
I think he heard the whistle too, but still think that the ref should use common sense and give him a talking too. Funniest thing last night was Wegner squaring up to the ref and the ref was giving him it tight right back at him.
A talking to, would have been the more sensible thing to do, admittedly, but Arsenal haven't really got grounds for complaining, as its in the rules. Are you implying that Wenger is soft as ****e?
