Clonmany, I was looking for you. We were in the stand behind the goal where Gallen scored the winner. Which stand were you in?
I was in all four stands at one time or another but couldn't recognise anyone. Ended up in the North stand behind the dug outs. Wonderful evening, two fabulous squads who played the match in the correct spirit. Must say Sir Les looked tidy in the first half and Kevin Gallen looked like he was pushing for a place in our first team! As you say, very proud to be an R tonight.
Forgot to mention CorkerR and Ciarrai. Corker left home in Enniscorthy at 5.30am yesterday morning to meet clients in Belfast and Ciarrai did something similar. Enniscorthy to Belfast is 300km's and Listowel to Belfast is a drive of 430km's. For a legends friendly match!!! THATS DEDICATION. Respect to both of you lads.
Great match, very funny at times, particularly the commentary by Jacky Fullerton. "wearing no3, Jimmy Nichol. Wearing no.s 4,5 and 6, Jim Magilton"! He was looking a touch over his fighting weight. Sorry I didn't bump into you guys finglas etc. I was in the north stand beside the NI Qpr supporters flag. Still, great to see all those Qpr legends on the same pitch(albeit a little older).
Respect to all the boys who travelled to that game. It might not be official as such, but your group boys, is the de facto Irish Supporters Club. The other one is dead on its feet.
I love the pictures on the offish. Looks like there were a lot of smiles, and it was a great atmosphere. I personally particularly liked seeing Sir Les back in the hoops.
Gallen and Furlong were both class. Furlong was running around like a 20 year old and he is still very trim. The BBC Northern Ireland site has highlights and interviews. Gallen's thunder bolt of a winner was followed by a round of magic hat from the R's fans.
for the record the lads from this site that made the trip were me ( from Waterford) finglas ( Dublin ) corkeR ( Wexford ) BelfastR ( the clues in his name! ) kingdomhoop ( Down ) ciarraiabu ( Kerry ) we also met paul finney and steve russell from the indyrs site who flew in from the uk for the game. both real gents. most of us met each other for the first time but immediately started talking. we travelled from all over the country to show our respect for Alan McDonald . it also shows that QPR really is the best club in the world.
Ah Inky, how could you forget the nice young lad who stole all my chips because his uncle wouldn't feed him? (Great to see a young R season ticket holder there!).
