I keep saying this. We paid £11.8m.

We have him for an initial four years. If we get 4 years of Gaston, that spreads to £2.95m per season. I don't think his price is that bad to be honest.

Right, but he's not 29. What a strange hypothetical.

No we paid £12m to desperately cut in ahead of the big clubs like we did with Delgado.

And we've got little value out of him in his first season.

The point is his value is in the future. We got a £3-4m (at best) standard player last season on a punt for future benefit which may or may not come to fruition.

If he's crocked tomorrow we paid top whack for a season of meh.

    congratulations nit picking over 200k.
If we have 4 years of last season's gaston we'll have 1m's worth of player for each season.

Is that not what a forum is for?

If I see something I disagree with, I will intend to conflict the view. I don't quite get the issue in the way you have worded it.

Nit-picking or utilising the facts at hand, however you wish to view it.

I also find it incredibly hard to believe you can forecast the next three seasons, including who Gaston will be playing alongside.

Sotonist, do you know a guy who goes under the names gomarchingin and Barry Sanchez? An irrational dislike of Gaston Ramirez, stubbornness and rudeness when disagreed with and now you're doing the "let's all agree and hold hands" line.

What utility is that? It's a 1.7% difference (I eagerly await recurring decimal nit picking)

I don't think anyone has retained the point i made int he first place. The money was ill spent for our first season in the premier league. We spent all but the couple of hundredk on Davis on prospects and punts.

I think it would have been wiser at the time to have spent a quarter to a third of our punt budget on one or two experienced heads.

I'm usually fairly polite, but you haven't got a clue.

Wasn't sure whether to post it after this comment or the bad managerial change comment.

We survived, I really don't know what your point is? Were you expecting much better than 14th, beating City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the process, in our first season back? All in all the risks were worth taking and they paid off. Clyne, Davis, and yes, believe it or not Ramirez were all key for us and our survival last season.

No idea. What's irrational about his dislike of Gaston? Does he not like his hair style? Or dis he see a huge transfer fee, an underwhelming season of play, capped off with a reckless red card?

Was this barry fella rude enough not to change his mind because of weight of popular opinion on this board?

really?... really? you think people shouldn't express differing opinions? wtf?

There's a lot irrational about his dislike of Gaston, and yes, he was rude enough to refuse to budge even a single inch when his stupid opinions were faced with overwhelmingly comprehensive competition, which isn't necessarily to stay he was always grossly wrong.

And no, of course I don't think that, you just have very similar rebuttals to being accused of being intentionally contrarian.

Like it or not, Cortese has a long term strategy and wants to get value for money from his signings....if you buy a new car it will hold it's value for a few years but if you buy an old banger that has been around the clock it will depreciate quickly...it's his business strategy and I believe in it.
