NUFC : Elliot, Yanga-Mbiwa, Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Haidara, Aarons, Anita, Colback, Gouffran, De Jong, Riviere

Be interesting to see how Haidara does since the club are apparently looking at him to be first choice left back this season if reports are to be believed.

Good to see Aarons given another chance and hopefully Colback can put in another tidy shift after Oldham since I feel he'll be picked alongside tiote in the defensive 2 roles once the season starts.

And finally a bit of link up play between De Jong and Riviere would be a plus. Be nice to see Riviere start with a goal or 2.

    3-1 Newcastle is my prediction.

Is he really playing Mbiwa at full back?

Just switched on, have they said how he's setting up? Not that it matters massivley at this stage. I am looking forward to seeing Aarons play though.

Quite possibly as he is a utility defender who spent a whole season at full back in France. This myth about him not being able to play full back because he was out of form last season is silly, he can and has in the past. **** he even did a stint at left back for Montpellier and in holding midfield. The fact he was **** there and at centre back for us is neither here nor there. It appears the manager is willing to give him a chance to put the past behind him. Hopefully he can turn it around.

He's never going to make it in the Premiership as a full back. If that's where Pardews going to play him we should just sell him now.

That was tasty. Riviere could have buried that. He looks lively though.

Grey shirt... I can't even tell the difference between white and grey. My excess of testosterone has rendered me quite colour blind.

Based on last season, he's never going to make it in the PL full stop. He was awful at centre back too (save the odd decent game). I would have sold him as I don't think he is cut out for it, his passing is woeful, appears to be really thick and he is far too weak. However if the manager and club want to give him a chance then I'll get behind him. Both him and Saylor are liabilities in my opinion, I'd have sold both and gone for Caukler and Shawcross. However that is expensive trading so we'll just have to cross our fingers.

Given that our first choice RB is currently on holiday, I'd suggest MYM is our first choice RB at the moment. Who would you have played their instead? Colback? Anita? More playing out of position and being 'Pardewed' no doubt. MYM will be a back up CB.

De Jong And Emmanuel look a little bit cool on the ball. 'fraid to say I'm starting to fancy us a little this season. Got some brain up in there finally.

Fairly lively. Another goal for Siem and one for Riviere. So far so good. Riviere has looked pretty good.

No wonder Aarons is being pushed forward into the first team. He looks like a handful. We have some good attacking midfield options now with him, SDJ, Cabella, Sissoko, Gouffran, Abeid. If we could just add a Grenier to give us that option at 7, 8 and 10we'd be looking well set.

If we could offload Obertan, Sammy, HBA, Marveaux and Jonas surely there would be enough scope to make something along them lines happen (accepting Grenier probably wants better than us). Though there is not much in the way of fees there, there is a hell of a lot of wages. Must be 150K a week minimum?
